December 16, 200619 yr Changed the tbelt on the 92 2.2 Legacy and it runs just fine . Throws a CEL #13 for camshaft position sensor. Car is hard to start when cold , alittle better when warm . Have to use the gas pedal alittle to get it to start. Kind of like its carburated. Other than that it drives like it did before I did the Tbelt and pulleys. Do I have to replace the CPS or is it a repairable component?
December 16, 200619 yr IIRC, you have to disconnect and remove it to change the T belt. Are your sure it's reconnected properly? I forgot to reconnect mine when I replaced the belt, but the car would'nt start at all. Good luck!
December 16, 200619 yr Author I never removed it when I did the job. It sits behind the left tbelt cover on the head side. Looks like it bolts on with 2 8 or 10mm bolts and plugs in behine the TB. If Im looking at the right sensor? According to my haynes manual.

If Im looking at the right sensor? According to my haynes manual. You seem to be looking at the right sensor. If the sensor is bad, you're out of luck. 90-94 Legacies have a 130$ (at 1stSubaruparts) sensor. After that the part is different and came down to around 20$.
December 17, 200619 yr Sounds like a bad sensor. This is one of those codes that it is what it says it is. It probably has an intermittent failure (when cold). Normally the car wont start and you wouldnt get a code. nipper
December 17, 200619 yr Author Its stored code. Only comeson every now and then. I have to bay the throttle to start it when cold but when its fully warm it starts right up. Just gonna have to deal w/it till after christmas.
December 17, 200619 yr Could a damaged tensioner allow enough belt flop to intermittently throw a code? I dunno, could just be coincidence but I'm always suspicious of the last work done causing new problems. Carl

Carl Which raises a good point..... is the CEL flashing, and exaclty what else got changed along with the timing belt. nipper
December 18, 200619 yr Author All the pulleys and tensioners aswell as the belt were changed when I did the job. Also removed and reinstalled the radiator. CEL comes on every now and then. I got the code when I accesssed the OBDI connectors under the dash and counted the flashes.
