Anyone ever built a manifold oven for an EA82?

Featured Replies

Seen it done on other cars, but never a Subaru. Just a steel box that bolts to the exhaust manifold- put your burritos in and a couple hours later they're done.

Of course, EA82's don't have manifolds, so I was thinking of putting it behind the passenger side cylinder bank. Just wondering if anyone here had tried it.

Thanks,

Andy

You'd be better off starting with a big chunk of aluminum, and drilling a couple passages through it lengthwise, put fittings on each end, and run your heater hoses through there. Much more controlled cooking environment, only gets up to ~200º, while an exhaust box gets over 500º.

:)

You can see it done here on a Forester.....Maybe more relevant to the newer sube forums but couldn't resist

(About 3:30 mins into the clip)....

Uhhh...isn't that kind of a long time?

Not for a leg of lamb :)

Besides, their mission was finding a solution to having to eat the terrible food you find at road side restaurants while on a long road journey in the UK.

If you throw your grub on to the "stove" when you start your trip, by the time you would normally stop for food the meal would be ready.

Of course, if you want "Fast Food", you could always turn up the RPMs to say 4 or 5 thousand and grill up in a fraction of the time

Hpoefully you don't have any oil leaks on that exhaust or you're have *smoked* dinner:Flame:

Mmmm...20-50w flavor:-p
We would just put stuff in three layers of tinfoil and rap it up real well and drive for like 2 hours for a steak!

Drive through a field for a side salad and garnish.

A nice meal is nothing without presentation.
