The auction description states "black two tone leather" but that doesn't really mean anything. It's just that I was looking for a white outback with a dark interior, but they never offered that color combo (that I know of). All of the all white (not two tone) exterior cars came with either a tan leather or a "taupe" cloth interior.

Makes me suspicious of this car, exactly how extensive was the damage that it required a complete repaint?

Maybe not flood. Flood damaged cars usually don't require a complete repaint.......but wrecked with a lot of sheet metal damage, that a complete repaint was called for is hard to imagine. For an insurance company not to repair a 2006 model, the accident must have been severe. The only way to buy this car is on the cheap. A bid of $6K is beyond cheap in my opinion.

Is it just me, or is the nose a different color of white?

It's tough to tell on this one. The strut towers and firewall look to be white, but a slightly different shade. I'm thinking this was a two tone car, but even then, I didn't think they offered up Black Leather with any of the lighter colored paint jobs.

It could be something else, but I'm still suspicious. I was hoping to find someone to confirm or deny the availability of Black Leather with the White paint in '06. If it was available, this is the only specimen I've ever seen.

Cars101.com Does not list a black interior being avalable for the white paint.

what does it list black available with? If not anything im thinking its more of a dark taupe

When did Subaru make a White Outback with a Black Leather option?

Was this an actual option for 2006, or is this a repaint? It does state that this vehicle has a "reconstructed" title.

According to my 2006 Outback brochure, it is called "Charcoal Gray" and the white is called "Satin White" pearl. No other whites were available.

It's too difficult to tell diff color tones with small digital pics. Ask why the car had its title salvaged. If the seller can't tell you, then I'd be suspicious of anything they say.

As far as the repaint. The only way that a rebuilder would repaint the entire car white is if it was that color to begin with. Changing colors on a car is a HUGE headache. And, changing a color to white is one of the worst changeovers. Now, I'm assuming that the factory Subes that were 2-toned have that secondary color carried onto the door jambs.

It is possible the car was salvaged because it was a severe theft/strip, in which case the interior would need replaced.

Me, personally, I'd never buy a rebuilt titled car sight unseen unless it was one heack of a deal.

I contacted the seller, he wrote back that white is the original color, and the car has not been repainted. I have my doubts. The whole thing smells fishy to me. I'm betting that this is a flood car that had the interior replaced with one from a salvaged / totaled vehicle.

I contacted the seller again, pressing him about the interior and reason for the salvage title. He admited to swapping the interior out with another Outback, so that at least explaind the color combo mismatch, but he wouldn't elaborate on why the vehicle was given the "reconstructed" title.
