dual range shifter, stupid location

Featured Replies

has anyone had expirence in relocating the dual range shifter , havnt had time to get up under there. what a stupid location , it interferes with normal shifting. pics please. or is it only my 1985 dl wagon,

Umm yea going to have to agree with Turbone on this one...

Or you have some messed up linkages..

But yes some of us have relocated at least the lo-hi part of it, and I sure you could just move the whole thing if you wanted. Here is the link to the write-up I did on the Lo/Hi stick that may help you a tad:

if its all jacked up(not sitting down to the console in fwd) from a lift kit or tranny swap like a 4spd to 5spd i guess it could interfere with the shifting...

its also an 85 so it has the  shaped 4WD shifter instead of the nice low profile S shaped one with the tiny knob on the end that they used on 86+

DL's didn't come with Dual Range, did they? So I'm guessing the trans was swapped. In that case, that's probably why it's interfering. My 1985 GL Dual Range shifter doesn't get in the way at all.
