October 31, 200718 yr Ive cleaned many a engines before but this time the car wouldnt start after a degrease and then wash of the engine bay. Usually I would suspect a wet distributor but we dont have these on our Subies. Car turns over just fine , just wont catch. Any suggestions?
October 31, 200718 yr Make sure your big vacum line that is in the middle of the air tubing is still connected, it is the one that is around 3/4 in. dia. Other then that leave hood open and let dry.
October 31, 200718 yr Maybe also see if there is any arcing off the spark plug wires; if so replace wires.
October 31, 200718 yr If 110v outlet is near by, suggest using a couple of portable hair dryers on the motor to dry up any moisture. I have done that before, and it helps.
November 1, 200718 yr Author 2 days of sitting and still no catch of the motor. Just starter turning over. Engine is dry.
November 1, 200718 yr Author Im now leaning towards a wet ICM as my culprit as its the ONLY thing that would really prevent the start of the engine.
November 1, 200718 yr You are probably not getting fire, but I would check and see if fuel is getting to the engine also. You may have water down in the spark plug holes, I would check. Did you check that big vacum hose? It has gotten more then one of us. Im now leaning towards a wet ICM as my culprit as its the ONLY thing that would really prevent the start of the engine.
November 1, 200718 yr Author Yes that hose is intact, thanx. Feels like its getting fuel , just no spark.
