Anti-freeze question:

Featured Replies

So I did a search on the forums and nothing came up. So I was wondering what type of Anti-freeze I should use in my EA82? Right now it's got the green stuff in it and that's how I bought in July 06. But I've heard that the green stuff is only for the older vehicles that have Cast-iron blocks? So what should I use? The Red GM coolant for Alui blocks or what?

Thank's

Tom

PS: I've also heard that the green fluid will couse Rust/corrosion?

Reason I'm asking is that when I take the Radiator out for the T-belts, Oil pump stuff, When I put the rad back in and put in new fluid I want it to be right. That's all!

I'd say. But nothing beats Brake fluid in your mouth:drunk:

You can't drink enough MT Dew to kill brake fluid! Trans fluid isn't bad, unless you get it in your hair.:-\

I hate when you get Brake fluid on your fingers! It's hard to get off "Arrg"

And you can't drink enough Coke to get the MT dew out of your mouth lol:lol:

The green stuff won't cause rust corrotion if you don't ever change it. And the green stuffs a hell of a lot cheaper than the red stuff.

MT Dew is YELLOW!

Coke has a red label:grin:

so Whatcha talkin 'bout mudduck!?

I thought MT Dew was anti-freeze...really sweet and full of chemicals.

Those chemicals are preservatives...No need to mummify me, I'll NEVER rot away.

Now my antifreeze is known by many names, White Lightnin, Moonshine, or even plain o'l Corn Liquor.:drunk:

I just read my post, What was I talkin about? That made no sense!

The green anti-freeze won't cause corrotion if you DO change it evert year or two.

And I'm back to the Coke. I was drinking way too much of that Mountain Dew

Forgive me mudduck...My antifreeze & cold medicine are one & the same, and I'm fighting the sniffles if you get my drift :drunk:

I have used the green stuff almost 30 years. Don't change it much. Usually add in new if I have to open the coolant system as part of a repair. I never have seen any corrosion in any of the cooling system parts - cast iron pump impeller, aluminum block, brass radiator. My 1990 EA82 has been with me 15 years.
