February 15, 200818 yr The Colt was plugged in (block and oil pan heater) whereas the Subaru wasn't. I recall Fairbanks was shrouded in ice fog that morning. When I looked down main street to check the time/temp sign at the bank there was a moose walking down the street. At work I threw a cup of hot coffee out the back door of my office and it froze before reaching the ground.
February 15, 200818 yr i know it isnt the coldest ever - but still....this deserves some kind of prize, doesnt it?? actual temp was around -15 or so, with winds 30-40mph - wind chills about -45 or so... I really wish I had thought to grab the camera before I started digging out the snow!! oh well...
February 15, 200818 yr Yeah we see some heavy winds up here at 10,000 feet. Sometime gusts of 70+ And the last month or so it's been down to -20+ The RX starts fine thanks to the FI, but if ya miss the first fire, ya gotta hold down the pedal to the floor for 3 seconds.

February 21, 200818 yr We've had screaming lake effect snows off and on for the past few days here--lots of accidents--50 car pileup near Muskegon on I-196 ("The Lake Effect Freeway"), most of the victims seemed to be giant American SUV's (a cautionary tale!) I took a pic today of the accumulated snow in parking lots next to "Bulldog" (yes, my OBW's new name! It is a BG, and it won't quit, right--BulldoG!) Some giant mountains of it! I forgot how secure I felt driving in this stuff with my old Leone Wagons (all DR 4X4). The OBW is great, but better (stuff isn't falling off at the same rate as my older gen cars!) :-\
February 25, 200818 yr - 43 fahrenheit in Fairbanks with a gen 1 Brat. Here come the 'banks storys of "real cold" Both STARTED!! -42F in the subi without a block or oil heater -49F in the tacoma, i ended up blowing out a oil filter gasket and changing the oil the next morning at -42:banana: then there was the time i changed the starter on my blazer in the parking lot of teh gas station with the sign reading -45 in high school I don't miss the interior, the coldest ive been down here is -25 ill snap a pic next time cause i know itll happen again sooner than later.
