j/k  but it still looks sexy.

Nice find.

I got my RX for $350. Replaced the head gaskets and wheel bearing...no problems since.

Well, it has the TOD but you know how that goes.

thats one thing i have noticed about this car. no tod. (knocks on wood) its only got 166*** thats not that much to me considering my dl had 280***

did you buy that from a guy named Brian? (Black/African-American if it helps/matters)

  • Author

actually i bought it from his friend she used to be my aunt through marriage

why do you know a little bit about this car cause i wanna know were it came from

small world lol

more like Spokane

it used to be his though he approached me and asked me if i wanted to buy it. my best friend lives next door and he is over there quiet a bit

Thats not bad rust...I could fix that in a day or 2 no problem. Nice score! Nice Car!

the real bad stuff is actually in the back there is a cancer hole about 2 inches i

right by the license plate is. im a total noob when it comes to rust repair.

Thats not bad..as long as its good undernieth the rest is cosmetic and ( for me) a pretty easy fix. But I live in the rust belt so ..its kind of a genetic thing we have here:grin:. I have fixed alot worse. Just yesterday we gave someone a crash corse in body repair ( see my thread about hatchsubs sedan)

yea i saw it too bad your not closer :) i lack a major tool i think. a welder

other than the rust and a bad axle its a really good car. so far. (knocks on wood)

Actually..the welder was only used on the rebuild of the rocker. The metal on Subarus is so thin the in many cases pop-rivetting ( correctly) and filler is all that is needed.. You take up close pics of the rust and I could give you easy ways of fixing it. That car is too pretty to let the rust have its way.

oh i know i had no intentions of letting it rust away thats why i bought it

ill try to get some detailed pics tommorw when its light outside, after the oil change, im just not that great at bodywork but i do have friends that have schooling in that area, but i feel its my car i wanna be able to say LOOK I FIXED IT!

Well thats what we are here for..to help you achieve that " Look I Fixed It  " level  .. I am debating myself about stepping into some new territory and doing a structural repair on my XT6 ( Frame rails)

yea i think i remember you posting about that car. well good luck with that from what i have seen you deff. know what your doing. hopfully soon i will have a rust free $225 Rx i have a feeling there is gonna be alot of rust under the rear spoiler and the ground affects kit:rolleyes:

The last one is on the fender. sorry for the poor quality

Most of it looks pretty easy...Backwoodsboy found the wheel arches somewhere..cheap like $35 each..The back I could fix in a couple hours...Bring it over I will fix it for you. Here is an example of what I have done:

Before...really bad patch job..undernieth..nothing..not even floor:

After..just a temp patch pop-rivetted and bondo:

Then repaint:

What rotted out quarter??:

You CAN do this..just take your time..ask questions....always remember..if us girls can do it..so can you;):)

well i went to my friends house today to make some headway on the rust. last night after posting i found a huge hole in the trunk area where the muffler would be on the out side so i decided that exaust fumes were not too good in a car. so i fixed it today heres some pics. i hope i did it right...............:)
