I realize it was a typo, but "R!e" does a better job of distinguishing this model from the R1 than "R1e" does; I like it.

EDIT: Although I'm not sure how "R!e" would be pronounced. :)

DOH! (or should that be: DOH1)

There was a US firm (Austin Texas?) doing electric conversions of early Sambars (Subaru 600's) in the late 70's "Jet Electra Van".

I'm going to be honest, there is a web page, complete with downloadable manuals, but I can't find it at the moment (but did snag the manuals at the time).

Ok, got it:

Isn't popular Mechanics like the kiss of death for any new technology?

nipper

depends - they (PS and PM) sometimes get the hype before the substance (ala - MOELLER and his "flying car"), although PS seems to do it "less". They are trying to be the harbinger of "new technology for the common man"...er "person" to be entirely PC.

I've seen some interesting things there that never went anywhere and haven't seen other things that I thought SHOULD be there

ZOMG!

Yeah, for decades it seemed that anything on the front cover would NEVER happen!

lol!

That is a perfect car. They are AWD to right! Good for going around town. 50miles is plenty in a days driving. Lipo's perform good, light, last long.
