October 14, 201114 yr New to the stable 1979 4wd. Soon to come set of flat spoke jackmans and a westfalia roof rack.
October 14, 201114 yr hey Rust.. Very nice find. Definitley need more pics inside and out of that wagon..... BTW where is "the sticks"???
October 14, 201114 yr Southern New England, where rust is plentyful and vintage jap cars are not. I'll post more pics after the upgrades. P.S. I plan on driving this in the winter. Rust and salt doesn't scare me.
November 7, 201114 yr Here's a few more I built . 1979 brat v6 chevy mud racer !! 1979 wagon ej swap ej swap album "]
December 5, 201114 yr This is my latest suby, 1981 brat with 4" lift. It's my daily driver and hunting rig.All stock except lift and tires, 1800 d/r 4spd. [/img] folder with more pics "]
December 6, 201114 yr 1979 Brat with an ea81 and a fwd-only 5 speed. Picked it up for 800 bucks last month and drove it home. It has NO rust (ok a little surface rust here and there hehe) He also gave me a truck-bed load of spare parts for it including 2 of the 'offroad tires'. I got another 2 of them at the junkyard so as soon as I get all 4 painted the same color we'll be good to go! > Big plans for the little truck! *ahem* car!
December 6, 201114 yr Ok, the brown one is badass! And the blue one is adorable! What happend to the 4wd?
December 7, 201114 yr The 4wd is gone because the previous owner did mostly highway driving. The fwd 5 speeds have a higher top speed and is much better on gas. I'm flip flopping between going back to 4wd or going full ej swap with a modern awd system
December 16, 201114 yr Original owner. Bought it in June of 1978 in Santa Barbara California. My first new car. I have not driven it in a couple years now due to a lack of free time to maintain it and I refuse to drive it on Michigan's salt encrusted roads in the winter. This picture was taken a couple years ago here in Clinton Township Michigan. [/img]
December 16, 201114 yr That brat is clean my wagon will look that good once its warm enough to buff the paint out
January 9, 201214 yr 78 brat, stock 1.6 and a 4 speed, just put fresh paint and 4 inch lift on it. It has a removable soft top also. I have a 1.8 and a d/r 4 speed that will go in this spring. I sanded some cabinet doors for a friend to get the car. the lift is not on yet in these pics
January 12, 201214 yr '78 BRAT, bought for $300 late 2009 as a basket case (sat under a tree for 15 years!). Some typical rust, but not out of hand. As of now it has a 4 inch lift, rebuilt fat case EA71, lsd rear diff, rebuilt suspension and steering, new brakes (rear discs too), and about half the sheetmetal work done, including floorboards, battery tray area, and some other typical areas. It will soon get 18 guage rocker panels and rear valence. Then it goes back together with a reconditioned dashboard and a custom bench seat so I can lug both my boys around (at least while they are small) and it will get a flat white epoxy paint, tubular bumpers, and hopefully a set of slightly modified factory type graphics, if I can find them. With any luck (and spare time) she'll be on the road by spring. Edited January 12, 201214 yr by talldude add purchase price
January 12, 201214 yr Hey Talldude... I see a red gen1 brat or 78-79 wagon/ sedan in the first pic but just the turn signal spot left of the white brat.. Whats that???? Any pics worth showing???
January 12, 201214 yr The red truck is a '79 I bought last spring when I went to look at some parts. Turned out to be a complete truck with just a little floorboard rust so I had to bring it home... That will get a restoration at some later date, maybe with an EJ22.
January 13, 201214 yr Seems my earlier pics arent showing anymore, so here's those, plus my newest addition... '72 Tailgate wagon New Tailgate wagon '76 4wd parts wagon '76 fwd wagon, sold a few months ago, new owner blew up 2nd gear so it sits in his shop atm Rusty, 1980 Brat Before being rear ended Brown '79 Brat, sold a while back And there are at least 3 or 4 others that I cant find pics for at the moment... -Bill Edited January 13, 201214 yr by The Beast I Drive
February 24, 201214 yr Has my ************ty chalk-pen shark art. I'll be stenciling out and painting the real thing at some point. 1978 stock except Weber and wheels, which actually I really need some help with For some reason I can't get it to fit right. I posted a thread about it and just now finally got some pictures of where it is conflicting with my distributor. Maybe one of you EA71 dudes can help? Anyway, some very fine looking Subies out there... making me really want a tailgate wagon
