January 12, 200917 yr It's on my EJ22 wiring harness. Just always wondered what it was. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q200/SMASHmySOOByDONTya/EJ22%20conversion/DSC_0021.jpg
January 12, 200917 yr I believe it is actually a capacitor. there are a few of them scattered in the harness. Probably to supply something like the computer or cruise unit with steady power, no surges.
January 13, 200917 yr They call that a volt controlling diode I think. Limits systems to 12V. I believe the ignition system and the headlight system work thru that perticular one. Don't cut it out and you will be fine. 1/2 of it can be clipped off though.
January 13, 200917 yr As Shawn said, I believe it is a Zener diode. From the below link "Zener diodes are widely used to regulate the voltage across a circuit" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zener_diode Edited January 13, 200917 yr by Skip
January 13, 200917 yr It's either a Diode, or a fusible link. Hook the wire to the battery, with the car running, and measure the output side with a MM. If it's a stable 12 V then it'd be a Diode. If it's 13-14 V Fusible Link
January 13, 200917 yr it could, be related to the night time dimming.....of like the radio and such..... if it is this, would be nice to tap into for my boost gauge and radio and other such like things lighting..

And if you could give me an exact location that would be helpful so I wouldn't have to spend hours cutting the harness out. I ask because the one pictured isn't my harness and my harness doesn't have that diode, I must have cut it out like an rump roast.
