Iowa Campout at Saylorville Lake anyone?

Featured Replies

I figure if we want to do a campout sometime, we should start planning now as the spots get grabbed up quickly....

in the past, I have reserved a number of spots together (4 sites max per credit card/person) The campsites are nice, and the facilities are good....

I've tried to have a Show/Shine at the same time, with some of the other local Soob enthusiasts showing up, but nothing really big....

the campsites are usually like $16-$18 per night.

If interested, please respond in this thread with date options, etc....

We could even go out to a different campground area where there's more gravel/dirt roads.... maybe a return to the MudWest 2 site

let's discuss.....

better off to do the “revenge of the clutch roast “road” now before it can win again

I say “meh” to the campout thing, but should be able to drop by

yeah, sure, its warming up enough to think about some camping----in the spring and after. I gots a new tent last fall, have not got to use it yet. Can we bring dogs? I may bring my Sheepie, definitely not the other dog "mr runs off when he can"

definitely a family deal. we usually don't have many. and at least at the Saylorville area, dogs are allowed, because Chef Time brought his the last time we had one....

and it won't be until spring or summer, but I wanted to start talking about it now, because most of the campsites get reserved pretty quickly, and its harder to get a bunch together....

How old is indie, my eldest is 3. Would your wife go so if mine went she woudl have someone to talk to. Im not sure if she woudl be up to bringing the 2 1 year olds along though. She did enjoy camping the last time we went and im sure she would like to meet you guys. Just so she can figure out what the big deal is lol.

The Kid is 11 now. wife will not go. that's a "boys weekend" and a weekend of peace and quiet for her :)

Kurt (Syrinx) has come up from St. Lous before and brought his daughter, but last I talked to him, they had another kid on the way, and he was leaving that day for Georgia and then deployment.....

I can't commit one way or the other yet. We have always had a great time there. I'll see what work has instore for me this summer and get back to this thread. Later, Tim

bail money? oh yeah

 yeah, especially if 10 subarus get stuck on a "road" that truly is just a dirt path between a farmers fields. and the farmer happens to also be a law enforcement officer.... and the farmers brother sees you and lets the farmer know :)

He was actually pretty cool about everything when all was said and done....

if you search the past threads on "Midwest 2" you'll see

Count me in Mick!! I had a great time when I went, which I belive was the 3rd midwest meet. Everyone was so laid back and friendly, and very family oriented. The only weekend that does not work for me is the one after 4th of July. Otherwise, I am looking forward to going, and bringing the Brat! Kurt

I think the wife might be game but honestly if no other wifes are going to go theres no point in mine going. Let me know but im definately in.

sounds good to me. It all comes to what day it is since I have a messed up work routein.

who's black hatch is that??

I am looking forward to this.. I just need a date. You should put a few out so we can come to a consensus.

If you give me what month you plan to do it I can tell you what weekends I have off.

hard to say, as there are a number of other summer events that are still up in the air, and it's a long drive, but I had a great time when we were down there a few years ago. I'd love to come again.

But then again, I would like to get the 4runner down for Castana....so it might be one or the other. we'll see.
