Rear Bumper Removal

Featured Replies

Is there an easier way to do it. When i try to remove the upper panel i busted all the tabs off. Am i going to be able to put this back without replaceing the tabs.

If you go into the storage area in the hatch and remove the four rubber plugs on each side, there will be four 14 or 17mm bolts under those plugs, remove those and slide your bumper off.

Soak those 17mm bolt threads with PB blaster first. Also, if I remember right, there are two smaller bolts - one on both bottom sides of the bumper going into the body sheet metal.

+1. If it is an ea82, just 4 14mm(head) bolts that hold the bumper on.

What about tricks do removing the front bumpers? On AC equipped Loyales the steel lines get in the way and make it a pain in the rump roast to remove those 14mm bolts. Any hints to make it less shitty?

1 - Remove both fans.

2 - Air ratchet, and 6 inch extension with 6 sided socket NOT 12 sided as they tend to round off nuts/bolts.

Thanks. I definitely don't have those tools. I think I used a small so let wrench and universal joint. I pays to have the right tools

The rear bumper on wagons should also have 2 10mm bolts underneath the sides, on the sedan, there should be 2 bolts sideways below the tail lights.

Or remove the radiator completely, along with the engine fan.

Hand socket with extension will then do the trick, no matter what sided socket you have, but better with the 6 sided.

or just rip out the AC who needs AC LOL

and a 14mm gear wrench works the best

o ya and pull your battery

I had the same issue, I have a nonfunctional AC but Im not removing it because I want to keep it and use it later. I used a 6" extension and a cheater pipe on my 1/4" wrench
