January 17, 200422 yr ok who here has an aftermarket muffler like a turbo muffler, or a exhaust system that does not retain the stock sizing. please help me out, i read the article here and i want to know if anyone can tell me where i can get a muffler that will fit. it says 7inches wide and 13 inches long, and i cant find a parts store that carries anything that small. thanks for any help. by the way, i dont want it to really be any louder then stock, nothing that sounds like the rice rockets that drive around. so no glass packs unless you can post your settup and a sound clip and/or a movie. thanks. Shean
January 17, 200422 yr I had a Raptor Turbo muffler, it was great. Untill I redid my exhaust. Works good. Less backpressure, a little deeper exhaust, not enough to scare anything or make the neighbors annoyed.
January 18, 200422 yr I just had a Thrush Turbo from Dynomax put on - it fits great and only costs about $20 from Advance Auto.
January 18, 200422 yr Author well thanks, i actualy got on JC Whitney and found a cherry bomb brand Turbo II muffler, exact dimentions i need, size, and everything for $19.99, but then the problem. my dad says no, im 17 so unless i take it to school and do it in a day then he is gonna know. he said no because he says it runs fine, and i dont need to change anything. but oh well, what he doesn't know, wont hurt him.
January 18, 200422 yr http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo81/2_inch_duals_FV http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo81/Exhaust_side_view This is my set-up. True Duals, no cross-over or y-pipe as of yet, definetly no cat. Mufflers are Xcellerator Turbos, $30.00 each at the local parts house. Hate to say it, but Dad WILL know if you put these on. Not loud per se, but 'taint 'xactly quiet either. Love the sound of the EA-82 Weberized engine winding out going up thru the gears. Nice little putt-putt at idle, but all heck breaks loose when I nail the loud pedal. Been reports of innocent by-standers being injured by snapping their heads around to see what the heck is coming at them. Ain't nothing even close to sounding like a ricer, either. Think of a Harley with a somewhat quiet exhaust, and you'll be close. Been told that by Harley owners, they like the exhaust tones of it..
January 18, 200422 yr went to exhaust pros for piping custom system of pipe going to and from glasspack in stock location, seems quieter or equal to ea81 stock pics of before and after are on page 5
