note to self don't break any more oil pumps

Featured Replies

My engine got stripped down today, rear main seal out, valve covers off, oil pan off, oil pump off and cracked as in I broke it upon removal. Remember next time to twist, not pry.

Emergency trip to see McBrat, for a spare pump but got sidetracked by a very tall Red BRAT with huge 35" tires, subframe, solid axles etc.

Then back to the whole reason, got a oil pump thanks to Mick.

Was a nice sunday drive in the SVX.

The only thing holding from going back together is the parts coming from Jason at Mike Scharff. If it gets here this week, then the BRAT will be back on the road Saturday/Sunday, with new clutch, new rear main new valve covers seals new oil pan gasket etc etc.

yeah ,those damn things suck.i have broken so many tryi9ng to get them out......i don't know what it is about'em.

oh, and i do twist,not pry......cheers, brian

Was this on the EA81 in your Brat? Do you happen to know where to find a write up on removing the oil pump for an EA82? It looks like I need to replace the o-rings on mine. I tried searching, but no luck...

I will be rebuilding my oil pump on my lifted brat next week. NOTE TO SELF Mcbrat probbably does not have a replacement if I bust mine.

Yeah he is pretty great for spare parts. Even thou the 4 hour round trip drive is a pain in the bum.. bum.

On the good side I will also be replacing the

radiator as well as cleaing out the heater core so I should have more room to work on pulling the pump.
