1989 coupe to Brat project

Featured Replies

ok so after my thought thread and the broken window it has begun here are some pics to start with and i will be picking up the sheet metal for the back wall.

PS all welding on car has been done by B.O.S.S. including but not limited to. Shaved side markers, front bumper, and trailer hitch. Soon to have back wall.

Whats with the numbers on the right?

never mind the numbers, lime green grill and a confederate flag?

Yea I never understood why Rob has a lime green grill on a flat black coupe lol, Guess it go's with the interior. But to each their own :)

Man, that thing is going to look AWESOME with the extended cab! I like the bumper too, Alabamer Slammer!

Bumper isnt quite done yet fellas, still gotta fab up the bull bars and hoop for the lights ;)

I hope you left some excess metal for me to work with Robbie, it will make it a lot easier... Prolly gonna have to wait till Monday to start my part of the work on it though, I have to clean the shop out (again) and get Justin's wagon in there for the lift...

Burnt, just like the rest of the car . I wouldnt try to use any structural parts from that car. Not from above the ground anyway...

Ive got some more Ideas to think over when you get down here as well...

i would not use them fro structur but they could be cut out of the RX then weld them in to make the window frame for the side windows just to keep the shape i can explain more when im there.

eh, they had some bondo in them too... I guess we could check it out, but fire warps the thin sheetmetal on the outside of them, I wouldnt use them, for some reason it just seems wrong... just dont feel right

i have not seen anyone make a coupe into a brat i have seen hatchbacks and wagons but not a coupe. I also like this body style and i would just get a brat but to spendy for a good one and they are to small I am a big guy :). and copying kind of yes but i could say the same thing about a lot of people you have a lifted rig right?... see what i mean every one is copying someone one way or another. ;) Rob.

Yep yep, I guess we all have the same tastes Lol. I guess if we didn't, hen non of us would be on here, right....?

Gonna put stacks in the bed! Hahahaa, that'll look cool. Hey, how come no one has ever ran duel exhaust on a Soob? No Y-pipe, two seprete headers.

Would the back pressure be wrong?

do you have a web site for your work?

  • Author

he's working on doing a site. A few people do the duel exhaust but you need a cross over or an X pipe or it makes a mess of your power

I have dual exhaust on both my brats and the Beast, and I had dual exhaust on my RX too... I made an x pipe for my 1600 brat and it made a world of difference, but I think ill switch it to a crossover pipe for the sound Im looking for. The beast and my black Brat both have full dual exhaust and sound really mean, but I did lose some power by not putting in some kind of crossover.

Oh and my Black Brat has stainless stacks....

-Bill

I figured there would be some power loss without a cross-pipe. anyhoo Bill, you wouldn't have a video of what these sound like with full duel exhaust (No x-pipe) ?

Sorry Rob, not trying to boost ur thread

-Tom

I have a couple vids of the Beast offroad one night, and in the snow one day
