July 19, 200916 yr question.... my ex's 92' leg wagon with 150K. .she..took the heap to the local repair shop.. won't mention the name prob; when hitting speeds of 45mph and up along with climbing a hill...the temp gauge starts to climb and hit top end per the mechanic..; thermostat ok.... so this guy goes into the office and get's on the the company PC to look up the prob...... he comes back and says you have a cracked block..sorry note; engine is not burning oil....radiator is not leaking or loosing water... no blue or black smoke from engine.... anybody have a idea ??? spark
July 19, 200916 yr The mechanic has a cracked block :-\ Sound to me it needs a new radiator. Heck of alot cheaper than a new block.
July 19, 200916 yr Cracked blocks on EJ22's are unheard of (really unheard of on ANY Subaru - they just don't do that).. Probably radiator - maybe head gaskets but not likely at that mileage. EJ22's are known to go 300k before major mechanical failures. GD
July 20, 200916 yr "Cracked blocks on EJ22's are unheard of (really unheard of on ANY Subaru - they just don't do that).." Oh yes they do. Never Mind.
July 20, 200916 yr do not ever return to that shop. ditto maybe when he went into the office to use the pc he was checking his bank account... overdrawn? yep, you need a new engine
