My 2001 Outback Wagon has been experiencing incresing power loss. At any speed the power simply gives out. Getting from point A to point B is a very jerky experience. The car also stalls at stop signs. Two days ago a mechanic replaced the Knock Sensor. His computer showed that it was fried. The car got home without any problems. However, today it was worse than its ever been. Any thoughts?? I'm getting desperate.

Wires, plugs, coil pack ever replaced? And if so with what brands of stuff?

Assume regular maintenance (air and fuel filters).

How long have you had the car (to help establish the maintenance that's been done).

The timing belt was recently due - was it done? And if so what else was done?

Did you put in a OEM subaru knock sensor? Or cheap autozone type replacement? Was it installed with the 15-16 ft lbs?

Car got home just fine, then worse than ever.........Suggest going back to the same mechanic, tell him that the problem has returned. Ask to have the codes pulled again to see what they say. Maybe the replacement knock sensor isn't any good? Pulling the codes should tell you what needs to get fixed.
