It's going to be up to Subaru's contractor that manufactures and programs the stereo software to fix it. This is one of the joys of buying modern products that haven't matured prior to being sent to market. They know they can just flash update it later so they take the beta v0.7, re-label it as release version 1.0, and ship the product. Knowing full well every one of them will come back with complaints. Polarity doesn't matter on the load side (contact closure) of a relay. Polarity does matter on the control side as some relays have a diode to suppress the back EMF when the control side opens.

The main fan relay is on the left side under the dash. The A/C relay is in the relay panel. You haven't really stated that you are sure that the fan operation is actually a problem. Are you sure the fan isn't working due to a problem, because normally it doesn't turn on unless the coolant starts to overheat. I recommend you first connect the diagnostic connections together under the dash to test the fan circuit.
