  1. Our 95 and 97 EJ2.2 will do exactly the same thing when the MAF sensor is bad. Happened a couple of times. Get one from a yard. The last ones I pulled myself cost me $25.00 a peace.
  2. The advice is helpful. I will try not to mess it up. The plugs have not been out 'for a long while'. I daresay Doris Jr. will not survive the rapidly ensuing ice age. She says she will be sure to blink her brights if she should have the pleasure of meeting your RHD in the great Subaru beyond. Much obliged as always.

Hello all, I recently purchased a one owner 2013 Venetian Red Pearl XV Crosstrek Limited with only 42000 miles. It’s my first Subaru.
  4. You nailed it. Took a closer look this morning with the "air tube" removed and noticed one of the hose clamps was installed wrong. My fault when I pulled the engine 2 years ago to correct another one of my screw ups. Took the wife out for dinner and put 60 miles on the engine and no leak.
  5. Thanks, again! I'm happy to say it was simpler to fix, i.e., I rolled a wad of gorilla tape and stuck a penny in the middle. It fit fairly well into the place where the 'stopper' had apparently been. The brake pedal now rests against the penny pushing the plunger in, i.e., the brake lights go off when car isn't running, cruise control works and everything is working as well as can be expected from a 96 Outback with 306,000 miles. The next project is changing plugs and that will require removing a few parts, apparently. No worries and thanks again for your help...
  6. Got the main bearings and the crank in yesterday and was able to put the case back together this morning.

The RX shock values are in the FSM
  8. Yep, there's a steel line under the intake manifold, with a little rubber hose up to the throttle body, that's likely your culprit. Can be capped off or bypassed. I love Toyotapartsdeal.com, and they have a Subaru counterpart (www.subarupartsdeal.com)
