  1. That started in 2011 Forester, and is the FB25 engine which has poor oil control rings leading to oil consumption and it comes with the CVT which is not as robust as the 4EAT. Those aren't necessarily deal breakers but certainly doesn't make the timing chain any significant factor either.
  2. Not sure this helps but I have a 1982 parts catalog and I can see that the DL 4WD wagon does have some particular part numbers. Might need a rest first but I’ll post what I can for pics of components and whatever related harness , etc that I can.
  3. That’s a huge facepalm! What were they thinking?! Cheers Bennie
  4. No cover. The oil filter is recessed up between sections of Y pipe and whatever I haven’t discovers yet. This is an N/A car. But where they stuck the filter is blocked by pipes. Maybe I caved in too quick. It was hot and my main job had been accomplished. But I threw my ground cover down and laid under there , worked my way as deep as I could without the car being raised. I can see the oil pan and it’s drain plug. That’s all weirdly placed as well to an old schooler but easy enough. Is what it is. It’s this filter that’s inaccessible from first approach.
