Ahh man youre teasing me... hehe So next time you should try to learn his secret recipe. -
Hey thanks a lottt... helps a lot. My AC doesnt work so that first one wont matter. Does your AC work? The #3 is on the front of the carb under the air filter box. Thanks again.

Oil in air filter box - why?
Camelwagon replied to Camelwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Would the clogged PCV hoses have anything to do with me not passing emissions? -
Oil in air filter box - why?
Camelwagon replied to Camelwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hm no I didnt do that.... thanks. Any other hose i should clean? Is the oil coming from the carb or just the hoses? Thanks. -
There is a bit of oil in my air filter box, where is it coming from and why and how do I stop it? I already replaced the pcv valve and didnt really help... Thanks guys.

Hmmm I've kinda heard that too but i hear it hurts the engine tho cuz alcohol doenst mix well with gas. So are you talkin real alcohol or rubbing alcohol? -

How do you read codes on an EA82 carbed
Camelwagon replied to oldblue2's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey you might wanna check your vacuum hoses, sounds like that might be it. Thats what mine was doing and i found a couple unconnected hoses and now its idling real nice. I failed my test yesterday too for too much HC and CO here in Spokane. HC means unburned fuel, vacuum leaks or lean air fuel mixture. CO means partially burned fuel or too much fuel.... I've been trying to get my codes too, I have an 85 EA82 too. -
I'm trying to figure out what these 2 screws do, I know the one on the left is the idle screw right? But whats the one on the right for? Is it the fast idle screw? Thanks. Its on an 85 GL 4x4 wagon, 1.8 engine. Here is the picture.

Ok here are a few more questions I have about my 85 GL, 1.8 engine. I dont know what these things are. Here are some pics and descriptions, please let me know. Thanks guys. 1. What's this black filter looking thing next to the oil cap? Does it ever need to be replaced with a new one? 2. And also this connection thats plugged off, is it supposed to be connected to something? 3. This electrical connector next to the strut, is it supposed to be connected to anything?
-
Ok on my 85 GL 5spd 4x4 wagon, 1.8 engine, I have a few things that aren't connected and I have pictures here below each description, maybe you guys can help me know where they go and stuff. Thanks, I appreciate it. 1. This vacuum hose, its connected to that thing near the passengers side strut, but the other end isnt connected anywhere, where does it go? 2. This hose is coming off the air cleaner box but the bottom isnt connected to anything, where is that supposed to go? I dont really see where its supposed to be connected to down there. 3. These 2 things sticking out from the front of the carb, theyre supposed to have vacuum hoses connected to them but obviously they dont. What goes where and from where? That vacuum hose with the red tape around it I think goes in one of them but someone taped it off for some reason...

Failed emissions - HELP
Camelwagon replied to Camelwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ya sorry, its an 85 GL wagon, 5spd, 4x4, EA82 carbed, 1.8 engine. Thanks. -
Ok so i failed my emissions test for too much CO and HC. Dang it. I know that CO usually means partially burned fuel and too much fuel and not enough air, so where is the screw to adjust the fuel/air mixture and make it a bit leaner? Or is that what I should do? And HC means unburned fuel or vacuum leaks, I know some vacuum hoses arent hooked up and/or missing. I also did a vacuum leak test and it showed that i have some late ignition timing. How do I adjust that too? Any other tips for passing? Please helppppp. Thanks guys...

Another gauge question...
Camelwagon replied to Camelwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Cool, ya actually i think it is a bit higher too. I tested it myself and the batt read 12.6 and when I started the engine it read 14, I think thats pretty normal right? The batt is a few yrs old and not sure about the alternator, probably original... Thanks. -
Ok so where should the voltmeter of ammeter gauge be on an 85 GL? Mines above the 12 a little, is that normal? It goes lower when I turn my lights on or fan or something... is that normal too? Thanks...

Radiator and temperature question...
Camelwagon replied to Camelwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hm could be your thermostat going lazy and needs replacing. Or something clogged in your coolant system thats not letting coolant go thru.. -
Radiator and temperature question...
Camelwagon replied to Camelwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well what I did is i filled it with water a couple of times and let the engine run and then flushed it out so it recirculated the water and coolant and hopefully got most of the old stuff out of the engine. -

Man that is nuts, what where they thinking??? I cant imagine how much junk is at the bottom of these radiators. Not cool. Oh well.
