  1. So can the charcoal canister be cleaned? Does it ever need to? I failed mine too, high HC and CO at idle. HC was 252 and normal was 220 CO was 2.93 and normal is 1.2 HC could mean vacuum leaks, lean mixture, valve adjustments maybe... CO means too much fuel, O2 sensor maybe...
  2. Yikes so now I'm confused, which way to turn to lean? How do i find out which carb I have?
  3. Hey, ya it looks like I dont have an ASV or silencer on the passengers side.... thats weird. Seems like my car is missing things, not cool. Ughghg.
  4. Hey so I'm wondering, what if I disconnect the heat pipe from the exhaust to the air intake, will that help with emissions? Since it wont bring up bad air? Thanks.
  5. Hey 1985GLWAGON, here are some more pics I took. See how different our engines and carbs are, you dont have this little box thing thats circled or that sensor coming from the thermostat housing... At least from your pics it didnt look like you had them. And see where the hoses from my canister are connected? Pretty weird, I'm not sure if its right but it runs fine this way... hehe. Anyways if anyone else has this setup on their engine, plese let me know cuz I still need to connect a few things. Thanks.
  6. Does anyone else have this set up on the side of their air box? One is a hose going down to the valve cover and the other is plugged. And also does someone have this set up with the hoses from the canister to the carb? And also do you have these things at the front of your carb? Let me know cuz I need help. I know not every EA82 engine is the same but I need these exact things. Thanks.

  8. Ok I'll try that Moshem. Thanks. Ya, someone who had this car before me taped that hose up with tape. No, the pcv is in the back of the carb, this hose with the tape is in the front towards the radiator. Thanks.
  9. Ya hopefully someone will know. Dude I checked my engine today next to the pics you sent me, and found out that our engines are quite different, you have things I dont and vice versa... very weird. Especially around the front of the carb and the hosing from canister is different on mine. I still dont know what to do with those 2 outlets coming out from my carb, not sure what vacuum hose goes into them. I'll post up pics tomorrow. Crazy Subaru, why do they have to make so many different engines? Oh well...
  10. Hey Moshem, i tried closing the right screw all the way but the car would die, and I think it would run wayy too rich if i only turned it 3 turns. Anyone else have any ideas how to adjust the right screw? Thanks....
  11. Well I failed emissions so I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it...
  12. Fast idle for cold starts. So can you adjust it? Right now it doesnt idle too high at all when i start it cold. Thanks...
  13. So to close the air screw, I turn it all the way to the right? And then open it to the left 3 turns? Cool, thanks man. So is that how I can make it more lean istead of rich?
  14. Hey so the 2nd inlet thats blocked off on mine should just have a "nowhere" hose like on the other side of the air filter box? Thanks.
  15. Ya makes sense. So how do you find out if the engine is original? Wheres the ID number and what does it have to match up with on the rest of the car? Thanks.
  16. Hm weird, from the canister on mine it goes to another fitting coming from the air filter box like you see in the pic here, not sure which one cuz i took the pic too narrow... Anyways thanks man, I wont take anymore of your time. Till next time.. Ted
  17. Ya, all that was replaced. How do I check my cat? Can i bang on it lightly with something? I failed at idle both for HC and CO, passed at higher rpms. Thanks.
  18. Ah cool, you already took the pic. Thanks. Actually can you take a wider pic of the 2 hoses in the carb so I see where they lead to? Thanks man.
  19. Also can you take a pic when you get a chance of the 2 tubes in the front of the carb that I was wondering about? I gotta see what and where they go. Thanks man, sorry for all the trouble, just wanna get it right cuz I wanna pass emissions.
