Radiator and temperature question...
Camelwagon posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ok so where should the temp gauge be on an 85 GL? Mine is going up a bit past half but no further, is this ok? And also, this weekend i flushed and replaced the coolant and found that the radiator petcock valve is on the side of the radiator, half way up. What the freak? Why do they do that, it probably only drained half the radiator. Is there another drain valve on the bottom of the radiator that I didnt see?? Let me know please, thanks.... -

I'm wondering if the 85 GL 5spd carb has clutch fluid or not? I dont see any other containers in the engine bay besides the brake fluid..?.?.? Thanks.

Have you given it a tune up lately? Tried fuel cleaner stuff? Any vacuum hoses leaking? So if his choke's stuck would WD-40 help get it unstuck? Or is it more complicated than that? -

Caleb - I dont think thats where the fuel filter is, I think thats the windshield wiper motor in front of the firewall. -
Ok so I just got an 85 GL wagon 4x4 and it has some electrical problems. When I turn the lights on and turn the blinker on, the lights and inside dash lights start blinking like the blinker. Whats up with that? Weak battery or alternator? Or some connections or leads have to be cleaned? I cleand the battery leads. It starts up fine every day... Thanks.

Cool, thanks guys. Is there only one fuel filter? -

Well I just got an 85 GL wagon 4x4 and today I took it to a shop to just have it checked out and they found that the left rear and the right front wheel bearings are bad. Are those easy to replace myself? You just repack them with grease right? I remember a firiend saying they are easy. So wats the worst that could happen if I dont fix them? Then they also found that the inner and outer tie rod ends and lower ball joint in the left front is kinda bad too. What do those do and again, whats the worst that could happen if i leave them the way they are? I probably wont go 4x4ing at all, i'll just use it in the winter a bit. And also, is there an online manual for any make of Subaru? THanks.

Thanks guys, i'll look at it this afternoon. Pics would be nice to see. Another problem it has is if I dont drive it for 4-5 days, the battery dies and i have to jump it. Do you guys have any idea what might cause that? Alternator? Thanks, later. -
Hey guys I'm new here. I have an 85 Suby wagon 4wd. I read somewhere that the suspension is adjustable manually? Is that true? How do I do it? And also I read that it has a hillholder clutch? Whats that? Also, is it easy to replace the manual tranny fluid? What kind does it recommend? Thanks guys.
