  1. Sounds like possible elec. problem. I notited in my soobs if the key is off and your being towed or otherwise rolling with it in gear it will read 0 on the tach. Turn the key on while still rolling and the tach will read correct engine speed. If you let off the gas and when the motor acts up does the tach go to 0 as well?
  2. Once in a while my four door that I sold to my bro Volcom_Don would act up and give me the same sort of trouble. the way I cured it was to give it a small hit of starting fluid near the maf sesor and then proceed by taking off the disty cap and givin it a healthy hit of starting fluid as well. I would also turn the disty cap back and forth as though I was adjusting the ignition timing and crank. Move it a little more and then crank. When It finally started I jumped out the car and put the timing back the way it was and tightened down the bolt and was on my way. Good luck with it
  3. My RX used to run aroun 1/2 to 3/4 on the temp gauge, I put a chevy 350 thermostat 155m.m. that opens at 160. Now she run about 1/4 to 1/2. usually it only runs at half if I'm in lo-range and pullin 4k or more for long periods of time, usually only on Interstate. So I would say yeah, start with the thermostat and go from there.
  4. try puttin a compression tester on each of the cylinders. maybe cracked head(s), gasket(s)? could be a loss of compression. When it bogs down does it sound like it's gettin to much fuel and "choking" or running lean and "starvin" for gas? maybe a plug went if ran to hot.
  5. No leaks? maybe plugged up. try removing drain pulug and put a garden hose in to radiator with engine runnin and hose turned on. Are you sure your thermostat is opening? Any fans, electric or clutch, that are working properly? does it over heat while driving down the road? good luck with an uncooperative radiator.
  6. I'll check my work schedule and could possibly join milesfox in another "roadtrip" even if it's short trip. I'll bring the RX and could possibly talk volcom don into joining us in which he would bring the four-door 2wd to 4wd conversion . Will get more info through miles and relay it to don

  8. Yeah fff-in-did. I'm back in indiana now but whenI was in fla. I saw a grey sedan(identical to milesfox's "silverfox") and also peeped a white 2wd sedan. There aren't many oldschool soobs around there from what I gather but alot of forrester and outbacks. a few early 90's impreza. and of course wrx's as well. Yeah I think the lack of oldschool 4x4 soobs is because 4x4 is barely/ if ever needed.
  9. Like the pic and yes he could get the brat stuck. Roneece could get a car with no wheels and setting on jackstands stuck between two trees in a way that it could not be pulled out
  10. Only a Roneece could manuveur his wagon so effortlessly in to the tightest Roneece spots.
  11. YES YES YES YES. That's it Dude I can't believe you had a pic of that. You just made me laugh my anus off. Way to go soob luvr. It's nice to know somebody gets a kick out of us being our selves. gotta give a shout out to ya HOLLA.
  12. Yeah we got some stories from baja'n that's for sure. Do you remember the MISCOMMUNICATION? I am sure you do we all got our soobs stuck within 6inches of each other. wasn't that some shizz?
  13. I got a good one for ya. It was last x-mas and I had finally talked my oldschool (dad) into goin baja'n with me to see what it's all about and to show him what a soob can do. It was me, oldschool, my bro(Volcom_Don), milesfox, and Roneece, and we were in two soobs (my four door, and Roneece's white wagon) and my oldschool had his Dodge Dakota 2wd. We were all baja'n and havin fun when we decided to switch rides. Now Milesfox was drivin my car and I was riding with the oldschool and gettin high as a kite when I look over and see my car with the hazard lights on, plowed into a freeking snowbank that had to have been three feet high. Angry and curious as to what had happened we stopped to check it out. Milesfox tells me he noticed my car was getting hot (if I know miles he meant OVERHEATED) he hits a little snow and it covers the windshield, makes his way into some tractor ruts and parks my shizz form 35mph to 0 in this deep snowbank. Roneece comes to rescue my car with his wagon and also gets stuck. When we finally get him unstuck and hooked up to my car I 'm so mad I can't even see straight. But I wasn't about to let milesfox drive again. N E Ways he pulls me out and I totally forgot about hitting the brakes. Well about this time I park my car into Roneece's radiator. Talk about some dumb shizz. Now that I look back on it it is really funny. I guess were all entitled to a roneece moment or two. I meant for this to go on the thread about stupid things you have done while driving/fixing a soob. I didnt realize that I had hit new thread and not post reply.
  14. yo yo yo what it is muther fyorkers? On my four door it has an aftermarket exhaust on it with spinnable flanges on it. if the one bolts break off or stip out you can use the other holes they have same threads, and depth as the stock holes that are stripped, broke, etc. so to answer you q yes you can use other holes. good luck with your soob.
  15. I'm not sure if there is any difference in them or not. I don't see why there would be though. I believe they are the same size.
  16. I think it will make all the difference once you swap the stock intake back on to it and replace that AAI sensor. let's be sharp. keep our eyes open because how many times we build something up and get it all put together and runnin to realize we overloked something stupid and it could be messin everything up, causing us to troubleshoot in the wrong area. ie 88 sedan cam-pulley incedent after conversion. ground wires unhooked.
  17. no it's not the county we live nyup in. It's our dookanese, and we pyock it up from the tainted water. we have bungalos, biscuits sometimes we put our bungalos nyup in a trashwagon anddrive though the mayor yard for shizzle my nizzle nyup-inthe hizzle and sometimes when its a little fyostey out, when its pyeastin' and fyeastin' we flow a little dookanese a little something like this: >I got Dook on my Knees When i'm speakin my Dookanese >And you're Dookin' with t These and i'm Dookin' wit Ease! those ebonickswe be spewin' from the nilcahs who be flowin they all know where we goin. that was Myoss Feece and Miles Fox cuttin nyup a rug.
  18. HEY DUTWEILLER what's up? you still havin turbo troubles? Don't noone on the board know anything? N E Ways this so called Rx killer you're building is runnin all fyostey-like. You know when we race your getting wasted and the only thing on the RX you will see is my expired plated geting smaller and smaller in front of you. HA HA it's all ****z-n-giggles. The real RX killer and you put it would the pimpest off roading motor nyup in my opinion, a 4 cylinder turbo diesel bolted to an ea series d\r. WHAT? WHAT? No limit to boost on a deisel that's pimp. N E Ways I will stop nyup-over your hizzou to help troubleshoot a gl10 turbo wagon. c-ya when I c-ya.
  19. Hey man I didn't make it to the showout west. That was Zanny Dook, Ro-neece, and Miles Fox. You must be mistaken me for one of these two, none-the-less Miles Fox told me about your silver 84 wagon 2wd to 4wd conversion. I'm the one with the 2wd autoshmaa converted to 4wd 5spd. d\r 88 gl sedan with gl10 intrior and a roof-rack. These days I'm drive my RX with 16inch fat wheels and 3inch suspension lift. maybe we'll meet sometime.
  20. I recently had a 1981 gl-f ea81 2wd and decided to go with the ea82 motor. I had to drill the flywheel bolt holes on the ea81 flywheel to use the ea82 flywheel bolts.(they are bigger) the flywheel kept the 2wd's clutch and pressure plate. other than the flywheel it basicaly fell into the car with NO MODS. I left the disty out to get the motor around the brake mastercylinder. Pretty much the same setup as tom's brat.
  21. yeah. no damage. Subaru was smart enough to consider non inerference valves so even when completely open the piston won't smash into them. the only thing that will damage a soob is dong a power-slide into a boat trailer:headbang:
