  1. I agree, its probably the most annoying thing in the world. Hearing someone elses system from a half mile away while your trying to take a nap. It was cool in 2000. The "cool" factor has diminished and there really isnt a need for it, besides of course annoying everyone on your block.
  2. By doing this, you must post us a picture on here of you roasting them back tires.
  3. By doing that, all I would have to do is slide the end right on the output part of the alternator? Do I still need to leave the other wire on there? So in the end I will have two wires coming off the alternator output part.
  4. Cougar thanks for confirming my suspisions, we check the current at the battery and it was good. I hope me fixing this tomorrow can clear alot of that stuff up.
  5. I am going to redo the connection on the battery part of the alternator, its about to fall off as it is. I believe this could be the cause of this. I am going to redo it tomorrow because I simply don't have the pliers needed to crimp it.
  6. Yet again, provide quick and effective advice. I will get up early in the morning and check my grounds. The dude at the alternator shop said that if I had any trouble run it by. I will run the brat by there tomorrow and have him check everything out. Would the bad ground also cause my fuel gauge not to work?
  7. Well put the newly rebuilt alternator on the brat today. Drove it up the road and my voltage is still reading at 9 or 10 and my windshield wipers are barely moving. Every now and then my gauge lights will go out and my tachometer ceases to work. This includes all electrical lights. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Bad ground on the alternator is what I am thinking. The previous owner thought it was bad distributor bushings. What do you all think?
  8. I take it since you wanted to sell it before since it was auto, Your going to keep it now since your doing the manual swap?
  9. FIXED!!!! A spring had came off and when I gave it gas going over the speed bump. It managed to go back too far and jam the secondary jet open. My father and I fixed it tonight and got it running again, we stopped by the AutoZone and got a new replacement spring for it and attaced it to close to the transmission. I had been away for a few days and the hypothesis you fine people gave me was equivelent to what the problem was.
  10. I just bought the brat today. I went over a speed bump pulling into a friend's apartment complex and it started revving uncontrolably. The brat came with the weber carb. Me and my dad tinkered with it tonight while its still at his house. He thinks some trash might have fallen down into the float or butterfly valve causing it to get stuck. The throttle/pedal setup is good and intact. Next chance we get, we are going to take the thing off and spray the snot out of it with carb cleaner in hopes that it gets fixed. I took a look down into it and it looked as if one butterfly valve was open and the other one was closed. I would start the brat and he would hold his hand over the carb in attempts that the vacum would pull the garbage through the carb and free up the obstructed area. We even tapped on the side of the carb thinking the needle valve might have something stuck in it but didn't have much luck in that aspect either. I am completely open to any hypothesis about this whole situation. Dearon and GD you have both helped me greatly before. Have any of you ever experienced the same thing?
  11. Its revving uncontrollably like the pedal is to the floor i dont know what to do.
  12. The carb on my brat isnt responding to the gas pedal and the butterfly valves arent working with the cables. I went over a speed bump and it revved out super high. help stuck at friends house
  13. Hatch is 2wd, that could serve as a problem. I might run it by the mechanic tomorrow and see what he says. Appreciate all the help GD.
  14. I pray for the day I see breast augmentation at a drive-thru. Makes that burritar twice as good.
  15. My hatch will serve as my new parts car. Will the disty be the same with it being EA-81 and all?
  16. As much alternator trouble as I had with my hatch I should start to recognize the signs immediately. I hope it doesnt have as many electrical problems as the hatch did. I have a local fellar who does my starter/alternator rebuilds for around $10. (Good Ole' Boy System at it's finest). How about would I change out the disty?
  17. He believes replacing the distributor can fix all of this. I am wondering if anyone else has heard anything similar to this.
  18. He did mention the tach read irregularly also.
  19. I am going to check out an 83 brat tomorrow and the owner says that the distributor needs replaced because of bad bushings. He says it causes the oil, gas and voltage readings to read wrong. Would a distributor cause this or what?
  20. Cool! Thats what I needed to know, thats one of the companies that operates inside the company. You can check it out at colinx.com I work for INA, our sister company is *********, yes I know, heard the jokes, to clear it up it stands for Fisher and Group. German bearing companies for ya.
  21. I really enjoyed that. I about spilled my drink when I seen the 80 MPH mark and 4k RPM pic. I was scared to do 60 MPH in my hatch. I can only imagine how loud that EA81 was.
  22. This is a random question. I work in the bearing distribution industry while going to school and am anxious to know who makes the wheel bearings for our subes. It should be seen on the side of the bearing who made it. Just a little curious.
