  1. Yes its an EJ25, phase 2, 117k. Just got back from a 200 mile round trip and had been spewing coolant the entire trip. Realized something was up when I smelled the all too familiar scent of antifreeze. I have gave everything a very thorough look over. I felt the hoses and nothing is busted, I even took my timing belt cover off and looked at the water pump and everything is dry inside the covers. I looked at my headgaskets and I see no coolant coming from them. I am getting coolant overflowing out of the top of the reservoir with WHITE foam. The temperature is staying right where it should be on the gauge. It does show that I had the head gasket additive added before. I really do not have a clue on this one.
  2. You may indeed have a thermostat sticking open. Are you sure you have a thermostat in it? Someone may have took it out at one point in time if the motor was having overheating issues.
  3. Thanks. Its not really that bad of an installation. Just set aside a few hours to have it completed. Like most of the mods I do, I try and do as much research as possible. Hopefully my dad will not notice the difference in the light, wife is about tired of hearing me talk about them.
  4. Well the installation was not really that bad. Most of the time is spent finding a mounting location for the ballasts. I recommend using some industrial strength velcro on a clean surface. My kit came with the dedicated wiring harness that you mount to the battery so there is no load on the cars wiring harness for these. There is an H4 plug on the harness that plugs into the driver's side original headlight plug. I currently have the 8000k bulbs high and low in it right now and really like the look, just have a hint of teal to them. Most of the pics I seen of the 8000k on the net show them to be crazy blue, these are not. I should be getting the 6000k next week and will be sending the 8000k back. Honestly its not that much brighter paying for the bright kit, it just angles the bulb up higher. Stock lighting with Silverstars: 8000k at night without fogs: The look I want, minus the amber corner lights:
  5. Spent the good part of my morning on the phone with the vendor. They agreed to send me a 6000k replacement kit and I just have to send back my 8000k with an RMA.
  6. Yeah, I've read the debates on them across the forums and heard all the HID bashing from lots of people.
  7. I have that sound on the passenger side you are referring to just not on the drivers side. I thought it was the relay at first but realized that it was too loud to be the relay. Swapping the bulbs confirmed that it was not a bulb problem. These were a Christmas gift from my dad and wife and have already contacted the people in the link. They're suppose to call me on Monday and probably feed me some jazz that I will have to take them off and ship them back to them, wait 2 weeks and get the replacements back. The parts do work, just at 95% of what it should.
  8. 8000k from here: http://www.hidxenonheadlights.com/ Their 8000k's are just like they show on the site, just a faint hit of blue.
  9. I just got my HID kit installed, on my 2000 RS and am very happy. I have an issue where I only have a high beam on one side. Switched bulbs it stayed on that side so it ruled those out. I hear my relay clicking in the fuse box when switching them on and off. I contacted the company I ordered them from and they said I would contact me monday to help troubleshoot. Thanks guys.
  10. No turbo or intercooler. Yes, it is the model with the head gasket issues.
  11. The Impreza is doing quite well. 90 mile a day commute and shes holding strong. I'll probably hang onto it till I graduate then more than likely upgrade to WRX. Still undecided if I will keep the RS or not.
  12. If weather is nice tomorrow I might just give this anti-fouler trick a try on my RS.
  13. Rarely do we get any snow on the Cumberland Plateau that amounts to anything. When we do, we take advantage of the inch and a half Submitted for your approval, Impreza in yard version 2.5
  14. Greetings from Crossville, fellow Tennessee member. Where/who did you get the SVX from?
  15. Thanks for the tips guys. I will remember these when I go buy some new wipers in the next few days.
  16. Looks like someone did the "gasket in a tube" fix for your intake gaskets. I been there, it sucks.
  17. A few months ago, I spent close to $70 on some Michelin wipers for both my car and my wife's. These were the ones that contour the windshield and fold almost flush with it after installation. These things are GARBAGE! Both my car and her's are doing the same thing. The wipers will skip half the time across my windshield. When the wiper completes the first part of the cycle, it pulls more rainwater back into my field of vision. It also does not even wipe on the lowest 3 inches of the blade, its like its not even there. I seem to have never had good luck with wipers. USMB, please recommend me some new wipers.
  18. My 2000 2.5RS had warped rotors when I bought it at 95k. I put two new front rotors on it soon after buying it along with pads and still had a violent front end vibration. I finally ended up just having to bite the bullet and have all 4 rotors turned. It was a completely different vehicle after that.
