  1. I ve got an 01 Outback, 5sp with 2.5 ltr engine. I do all the maint. myself. Pretty easy to do most of the maint., I am flushing the cooling system today along with an oil change. It has over 40K on the OD and hasn't caused us any problems. Only thing I find is that you have to make sure you get the air filter housing put back together the right way when changing the filter. Once you learn how to do it you'll remember, just have to get all the little tabs in all the holes so it seals properly. I don't have any exp. w/automatics. Subarus are very dependable cars, I am sure you'll here that allot on this board. BTW welcome to the board... What part of PA are you from? I am down in South Jersey. Good luck finding a ROO.
  2. Aren't EA81 type adjustable? The picture posted I beleive is an ea82, mine is adjustable. I know it is because if it is to tight forget trying to start the engine because it bind's the flywheel and the starter. If you get one from a yard make sure you remember which way the washers and rubber pieces go so you can put it back together correctly...
  3. high speed passssssss......buzz'n the camera dude..
  4. I think you should have a off-road meet down your way, once you get your hatch together and that Super Brat gets ready. Let me know I am sure you could get at least 3 or 4 people to show up. As usual we had about 7 or 8 people show for the PB, the usual suspects and afew new faces. It was nice to finally meet Skip and was cool to see Smitty and his Powder mobile. Where ever we have a meet we have to make sure Moosens comes along with his stock wagaon to pull me to safety.... Thanks for the tow job'S Paul.... Sorry I spelled Luc's name wrong before.
  5. This was a great meet, Luke caught a winner.... My pic's from the meet...
  6. lets see some more......glad the kid listened and stayed put....
  7. Or is all that stuff still in one piece? Tranny can't be that heavy? You can do it....
  8. I did the same thing to my brat when I had it and did it to my hatch. Make sure you get a high grade nut and bolt, that way you won't have any problems with breakage... its like having a new shifter.
  9. Only one of needs to bring a drive shaft, let us know if you want us to bring it. I would hate for both of us to bring one and one have to have it bounce around in the car while hitt'n the trails... oh yea only 3 days....... Paul I'll email you later with some ideas for prize categories....
  10. You need one, I like skips idea. I saved the one from my brat, I think mine would be cheaper than Paul's...
  11. It could be 75 degrees and sunny with no clouds when you leave your house. But when you walk through the gates at Harry's its 42 degrees and raining with a 30 mph wind that cuts you in half....Been like that everytime I go up there....Always bring extra stuff to keep warm when you go to harrys.... Harry's
  12. you should signal from the right lane to move into the left, overtake the slower vehicle and signal and move back into the right. If everyone did that things would move much smoooooother........ That way you wouldn't get behind some SUV while they talk on their cell trying to figure out which kid has to get picked up at which soccer game.....
  13. Moosens is going to take up a collection at the PB meet next week, if there is anything else we can do out here on the eastcoast let us know. I might have lost the info but incase someone out here brings a checkbook to the meet whom should they make it out too.. Thanks, we'll remember your friend at our meet...... ps, keep up the good work mudrat.
  14. Basic Rules For Driving In New Jersey... 1. Turn signals will give away your next move. A real New Jersey driver never uses them. 2. Under no circumstances should you leave a safe distance between you and the car in front of you, or the space will be filled in by somebody else putting you in an even more dangerous situation. 3. The faster you drive through a redlight, the smaller the chance you have of getting hit. 4. Never, ever come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No one expects it and it will result in you being rear ended. 5. Never get in the way of an older car that needs extensive bodywork. New Jersey is a no-fault insurance state and the other guy doesn't have anything to lose. 6. Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to ensure that your ABS kicks in, giving a nice, relaxing foot massage as the brake pedal pulsates. For those of you without ABS, it's a chance to stretch your legs. 7. Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a good way toscare people entering the highway. 8. Speed limits are arbitrary figures, given only as suggestions and are apparently not enforceable in New Jersey during rush hour. 9. Just because you're in the left lane and have no room to speed up or move over doesn't mean that a New Jersey driver flashing his high beams behind you doesn't think he can go faster in your spot. 10. Always slow down and rubberneck when you see an accident or even someone changing a tire. 11. Learn to swerve abruptly. New Jersey is the home of high-speed slalom driving thanks to the State Highway Department, which puts potholes in key locations to test drivers' reflexes and keep them on their toes. 12. It is traditional in New Jersey to honk your horn at cars that don't move the instant the light changes. 13. Remember that the goal of every New Jersey driver is to get there first, by whatever means necessary. Good luck and be safe in the good ole Garden State..... Hey Paul thats a great idea, can you get the account # incase someone brings a check book....
  15. if you an hour east of the pines that might put you in the ocean? Your up in PA if I remember correct, might be west of the pines. hehe.... You guy might want to check the Belleplain State park. Its a little farther south but I am close to Belleplain so we could convoy up Saturday morning. And if Skip has any problems with his new wagon my garage is about 20 mins from Belleplain. Good luck guys, if you get stuck I have a good size living room. One fold out bed and lots of floor space..
  16. Should have an off-road meet, I would love to come down there and see that brat and check out what you've done to that hatch....Then we could hit the trails, mud, Mts, woods, I am sure you guys have allot of places down there to go...
  17. Breakfast, But I'll be waiting at the usual spot for you guys to come from breakfast. I'll check to see if the horse trailers are going to be there(at the ranger station) or what not. Maybe I'll put another coat of wax on my hatch so I can take the cleanest roo, just have to be judged before I hit the trails....
  18. You might want to check out this link. camping and stuff... you might want to give them a call to make a res.
  19. Is anyone bringing a video camera, it would be cool if someone could tape some action. Maybe we could post it and prove eastcoast subaru's aren't all rust buckets sitting in a junkyard...
  20. well not really, kinda off abit. give you a hint....need to go higher.
  21. your to smart for your own good, I picked these questions up at a Pinelands festival last weekend. These are from the people who would know, I am sure your right about the amount of water changing all the time. However I am going with the answer I have so, nanny nanny boo boo......
  22. I was think'n on my way home from work tonight, I have an 87 hatchback 2WD w/auto trans sitting at my place. I am going to pull the engine and afew other things off of it, however if anyone needs anything off of it let me know. I would be happy to pull some parts and bring them to the meet. As long as I can fit the parts in my hatch and whoever ask's for the parts takes them off my hands before we hit the trails. Just let me know what you guys might need and if its still on my parts hatch and I don't plan to use it its yours.... parts car info: 87 hatchback GL, auto tranny, blue in color interior is in ok shape not the greatest. 2WD, EA81. I already pulled the headlights and grill, taillights, engine, rad are mine. I have other parts from ea81's, post a wish list if you NEED them and if I have them I'll bring them. Please only ask for what you need or are going to use, don't want to gather up these parts and then see someone selling them on e-bay next month. See you guys in two weeks....dont forget to take a shot at the trivia questions...
  23. Here they are, I'll post the answers in a couple of days. I have an orginal subaru prize for the person who is attending the meet and answers the most questions. (1) Name New Jersey's officaial state demon?(hint he is said to live in the PB's) (2) How many gallons of water are in the Kirkwood-Cohansey aquuifer? (3) How big is the Pine Barrens tree frog? (4) How many acres comprise teh region referred to as the Pinlands? I will have some more useful trivia about the official state demon in a couple of days, and of course more prize's...... Paul are you going to bring the prizes for other stuff like you did last time? You should start a list of differant things people would get prizes for....You did a good job of it last time.
  24. Fridays and Saturdays....sorry about the one legged thing. I won't quit my day job.
