  1. Yes Dunedin is a little more than half way for me :-p Perhaps Wellington would be more suitable.
  2. A side note I will be doing the clutch aswell, as it doesn't have much *bite* so to speak, and the release bearings and whatnot are very noisey. Perhaps CV joints if I can find a source in NZ But a result I am very happy with.
  3. ok, There was a small amount of rust in the floor (read-hole), But I have a friend who is a panel beater and is going to help take care of that, it needs two new rack ends, a new muffler (will probably just do the whole system), some lights fixed and thats it. Then it should be easy to get legal on NZ roads. Getting rack ends might prove difficult, any ideas if '81 Brats are likey to have the same ones?
  4. I don't know about camrys inparticular but with most cars I've encountered its usually easiest to remove the entire cluster, which isn't too hard. Then replacing the bulbs is easy peasy!
  5. +1 for wasted I'd try turning the engine over with a ratchet or such and see what you feel.
  6. I am potentially putting an ea81 in my coupe later down the track, I have a spare '81 Brat Front crossmember and a bunch of ea81's just no fwd ea81 box's. Are there any measurements I can do to help identify things?
  7. 1st off, This is the historic forum. Legacy is new gen. And if you are refferring to the sparkplugs, they are in the same place as any DOCH engine, just 90 degrees tilted to either side, a slightly awkward position from what I gather.
  8. Maloo is what the HSV (Holden Special Vehicle) utes tend to be called, and R8 is a bit like a trim/performance designation within HSV
  9. The crewman shown and the 2 doors you pictured are completely different, but they did do a two door version which the crewman was based on, which was based on a 4 door sedan Holden Commodore, which was based on an Opel Omega I believe. The two doors you showed are 'VE's, and I have a feeling you might see them stateside, you're definately going to see its 4 door sedan brother, dressed up as a Pontiac. Don't cha just love the big happy GM family
  10. Comes with 3.6 doch 'alloytech' V6 or a de-tuned LS1 over here.
  11. Just found this. It has leaf sprung rear & the diff will whine before it hits 100,000km. They did an AWD version also.
  12. This topic is also relevant to my interests... Bump
  13. Just an FYI, I ended up going with a the booster and MC out of an '81 Brat, Master cylinder looks identical and the booster is nearly double the size(good right?). Appears to work fine (once you adjust the pedal high correctly:rolleyes:). Also, I am going to attempt to drive the GSR to work tomorrow for its WOF (warrent of fitness). I hope it gets there as I have one or two doubts about the fuel system... It will fail at this point, but I can't find much to fault it on, apart from the hole in the floor, one tie-rod end with a little play, and perhaps a few bulbs out. I'm so excited, wish me luck! Also also, current view from bedroom.
  14. It sounds asthough if you were to adjust the cable, you might be ok.
  15. I'm with 91L I change the oil in mine every 5000km, and in that time have probably replaced all the oil at least once over.
  16. And a front bumper too from the looks of it. good luck
  17. I'd kill for a rust free one of those down here. Jelous!
  18. Alrighty. I will report again once I get stuck in. It may not be for some time as its not exactly at the top of my 'to-do' list just yet..... Did someone say cancerous metal?
  19. Front discs -- Thats right now that I think of it the bottom balljoint design was different on the EA81 style cars wasn't it.. I suppose the EA82 vehicles are the same? Is there much stopping me from just swapping the discs and calipers? Caliper Mounting points? Spine Count? Swaybars - Yeah I had guessed as much, such a strange looking design, I may just work on the basics like new shock absorbers (lol...) and maybe a slight drop in ride height. I'm not aiming for an all out performance machine, just doing small cheap modifications to make it an all around better vehicle.
  20. Ok. So I've got an '81 Brumby, and just stripped a turbo Vortex. I have the complete rear sus assembly and front. I would like to use Rear discs as told by Zefy (thank yooo) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53479 Front Vented discs - But I am unsure of suitability Possibly Master cylinder and Booster if suitable - Anyone Know for sure? Possibly Rear swaybar - How much work is this and how simple? Possibly Front swaybar - I have not checked yet but Am assuming it'll be a similar shape and a little stiffer? Opinions and advice/knowledge please?
  21. Thanks Skip. I take too many pictures, so it figures at least a few should be good.As for the front bumper, i think its the supports are a bit wonky. Havn't looked into it too much. The muffler on the coupe, no idea, previous owners addition, just the tip doubles in size and looks kinda silly. Will be fixing that once it gets on the road....
