  1. nobody has spoke up so ill try,the grinding i believe is pretty common, you can search and find alot of posts, the noise you hear has to be slop somewhere in the driveline,my guess would be inner axle. ed
  2. probally the one from ebay is just like yours BAD .THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM. ED
  3. anyway you look at it a increase in rpms will equate to more mph, maybe the tach is somehow off,if you boost it to 500 hp the final drive is still the same,if it dont slip in top gear the tach is off or he just dont remember exactly the rpms.i dont think vodoo is involved here. ed
  4. the 2 injecters you replaced are they across from each other? the coil pack as i understand it works in 2 halves,1-2 fires on the front half 3-4 fires from the back half. ed
  5. the haynes manual does not mention a saftey shut off, there is 2 relays under dash on drivers side,if you cant hear pump run thru the filler ,check fuses and these relays. ed
  6. i think the kanuter valve in the upper corner lower left might be leaking, might want to tighten nut behind the steering wheel to. ed
  7. come on guys a clutch dont slip and stay at a given rpm, does the rpms vary with throttle? if you are in high gear and you push gas pedal to the floor does the rpms go up drasticly? ed
  8. some problems are so complex that people hesitate to even try to guess, and thats most likely your lack of opinions, hang in there. ed
  9. ill go with the stripped hub,the puter is sensing that the front wheels is spinning so it is transferring more to the rear like it is supposed to do,thats why the rear wheels are driving so much. ed
  10. you are going to have to stop using that drip gas,its hard on things. ed
  11. i dont think that dog is going to hunt, why dont you do a search on that subject and see what you find. ed
  12. take the battery cable off for a little bit,see if it comes back on. ed
  13. i dont believe one family could own 3 subarus and have the same failure on all 3,maybe they have bad driving habits? ed
  14. i am guessing that this is an automatic,if so the click you heard is the shifter unlock if the noise was inside the car.any more info would help. ed
  15. smooth it up as well as you can, duro make a product called endrust, apply while the rust spot is dry, this stuff will dry[overnight] and then apply your touch up paint. i would use 180 grit to clean area.you are right by not grinding the area for this will thin it out way too much. ed
  16. my 91 did the same think, the cable had ate into the liner that guides the cable, have yet to replace mine. i did take motor out and just fasten chest belt by hand. ed
  17. want to try a little test? take some of your motor oil and put it in a old kettle and put it on the stove, time it till its all burnt up,put 5w30 mobil one in a kettleand heat it -watch the time.you will have enough time to run to wallmart and get some. ed
  18. by the way dude,99 percent of car makers recomend 5w30or 10w30 do you think they have tested this or are smarter than them? heavier oil creates more pressure ,know why? because the oil pump has a hard time pushing this thick oil, there fore more pressure.too thick of a oil will actually starve the main and rod bearings.modern oils aint your old 3&1 oil anymore. ed
