  1. Bad month for spare time for me. I found a new core for a '78 -so it says on the box- I'll take some pics with measurments to shop around. If I take it around here the price will be too high,I'm pretty sure. We need to shop this where labor and shop overhead is cheaper.
  2. Talk to me. Luc's birthday soon. One last camp out for us before it gets cold.
  3. Sometimes I spend more time worrying about which way to go about something than the time it would take to just get it going. As I get older I'm doing all I can to avoid "mind time" and just swim forward thru the tide. Like the others have said, just take it out and go at it cleanly. You'll certainly appreciate it and I'm pretty sure you'll find yourself giving it more attention that way. Things to consider: with engine out you can get to the seals you can't with the engine in. - rear crank - diff. output shaft seals - shifter bushings - etc. and maybe a new clutch and fresh surfaced pressure plate. Just a thought. Good luck with it.
  4. Still have yet to see this vehicle in person but I've acquired a 1979 Brat from Jim C. , former SOA man on the go. From the picture I received from Jim a couple of years ago his/my Brat looks very solid and with its uncracked dash should be a candidate for restoration. My son has called dibs on it five years or so from now. I sure do plan on sending Jim a nice gift because the Brat came to me WAY too cheap. Jim if you see this , and I hope you do , thanks again a thousand times. A nice donation will indeed be made in your name to the USMB. Thanks also to Tom of "All We'll Drive" in West Creek New Jersey. He and his crew are great guys from my experiences. Hope to be down there very soon. Lunch is on me , for sure! Thanks again , guys!!!!!!
  5. here i is :-p Hey Erik,Cool to see another northeast vintage owner with enthusiasm. Yes,there's one right near you,but not for long. I'm going to pick it up this week. Also a 1979. We'll try to help you out as best as possible. Might be some blue pieces left. You might want to sit back a bit now and try not to just buy the first items you see pop up. Some of us have new old stock items and a decade or more of accumulated used parts. But,there's no NOS dashboards or door panels, etc except for a very few random pieces that are not blue and not Brat. I do have Subaru tune-up kits, filters, and various small items that I can offer in the near future. Have you thought about protection for your baby? Car bubbles are great.
  6. US would be a '72 or '73 for the really cool old style. 1974 saw the squared bumpers with shocks and further ugliness. And,good luck finding one of these too. Seems Israel and one of those Kiwi islands are about the only places to dig one out from.
  7. Good time! Long day! :-\ ...shore traffic , meal , gas , ..... Got home a little while ago. Almost turned around in Red Lion and went back to camp. October, yes! Need a trash buggy before then, though. Little '78 was fun but I'd like to go pig. :-p Thanks to Tom from All We'll Drive and his crew too for his swapping in a new ball joint for the old buggy! And for the "relaxation therapy" trashing the boat with the wagon. THAT felt GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Changing to the '78 to keep peace. Grey 1978 4WD wagon .... see you there.
  9. Sister inlaw is really attatched to this '79 and being that it's rotted from the inside out we're not going to trash it.....just gently cruise some hardpacked trails. :-\ For the money spent on this thing I hope to get some value out of it being her commuter first and foremost. Floor has holes so we'll be avoiding high water. Heading down this afternoon. We'll be camping in the Batso c/g around back of the main stomping grounds. Neo,I have some pretty incredible news and might need some help from someone in NJ...I'll call you this afternoon. See you new car biotches there.
  10. No time right now but the EA63 has removable liners. You know that, the other guys might not. I'll try to help you out later in the weekend. Manuals are a good thing to buy. Cheap too! Remove the liners. Todd has one for sale - 1972-3 which works fine for your 1400 of any year. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=91793
  11. I lost all phone numbers so please call me and leave a message. We've been itchin something terrible to get down there. '78 or '79 will have to do. So,we might go light, might camp, might wanna ride along with someone for the hardcore stuff. If we camp it'll be on the State c/g in Batso.
  12. OK,it looks like a Dodge K series. once again, with feeling, in harmony ...... KILL THE 80's !!!!
  13. if there's $65 windshields going around you'd be moronic to pass on them. You can't touch a windshield up here for under $125 and that's for something going out of stock. Have to wonder if the price stays at $65 after one location gets it shipped from another.
  14. KILL THE 80'S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Send a message if interested. If not,no problem and good luck.
  16. I have one here if you want to attempt shipping. $120 for the glass. $60 for a new, freshly made gasket, plus shipping.
  17. 1989 and 1990 only in the USA and there were 1500 made for both years total. There are three different types of rear window installations on that model. Very cool car to me. Had one and drove it to death. Ended up with way over 200K
  18. To date I have no complaints from the Board Gods about using so much space for so little info. But.... Can we please consider NOT replying with the pictures and simply cut and paste the words you'd like to reply to? No offense intended to anyone, recent or past within this thread. There's a whole ?? load of folks that do it. Sorry,I'm not voting on this. Have fun! but I'm partial towards two or three...but, ultimately would like a solid color with some accents, not a two tone.
  19. Pardon me if this has been talked about previously but ...... http://cgi.ebay.com/1973-1979-Subaru-Mark-III-Convertible-Magazine-Clipping_W0QQitemZ330238455947QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
  20. I know I need them. And I'm sure most of you will need them if you don't already. Urethane? I would even settle for rubber at this point. Can we get enough interest to get this one going? Does anyone know of a company that'll produce these AND our door seals and weatherstripping?
  21. Up in the hills in Boone you'll find Subaru friendly shops. Sorry, can't offer much more than that right now.
  22. Whoever produces the kits for sale please give me a tap on the shoulder....thanks! Looks simple enough. If I were still running the shop where I was last we could whip some up too...but you guys are the real deal.
