  1. Yeah,I hear ya. But one never knows untill one tries. We scored a Stage I wagon rear quarter in our big load. So maybe one of you nice folks will cut a quarter out for me then.
  2. Couple of you guys work at dealers and have stated you can research parts existing in stock. Anyone reading this with access to Subaru's stock I need p/n: 6511 98500 or 6511 98501 Those are original p/n's and most likely have an updated number. FPM description: Outer Panel Rear LH Would surely appreciate all help with this for my claim on our '79 4WD wagon. 6513 20691 6511 03610 or 6511 0362 6510 42310 6521 80390 6521 80330 or 6521 80331 All body related metal for stage 2 and/or '79 Thanks for any help.

  4. Sounds like it needs a windshield gasket. Get a moderator to move this thread to the Historic Forum. Good luck with it.
  5. I came across the two units today -Stage I and Stage II Stage I comes out the opposite side and from the quick look I gave I'd say they will not flip flop over. Parts manual says "Not interchangable". :-\ Todd-it's your lucky day !
  6. Yes those shims are for the wet liner sleeves. Gotcha now,I must have blipped out on the use of the EA71 .... but that's the way to go for reliabilitly. My friend has 1400 heads off an engine and probably a set off too. But he's had some serious medical issues arise and I haven't heard from him since Monday. :-\ Annoying New England ice/snow show right now. Give me a few more days now before I can get moving on anything.
  7. Thanks Mike ! Too cool.... !!! Cheesecake and drifts ! hot dang!!! I'm swinging a broom around right now ..... trying to keep the 360 bug away ....help !!! help!!!!
  8. I'll double check for you later but I think they have the in/otlets of the wrong side.
  9. If it comes down to your not finding one at all I'll help you out with whatever I can. I think I have two new heads....I know I have at least one good engine that you'd be able to drop in but at this point you'd be smarter to break down and inspect. I do have a new 1400 4-port but as you know I also have a '74 DL 4door that I went thru a lot of trouble to get here so for now I've got save that new block for that car.....but,me being sympathetic toward this ff-1 you might talk me into some sort of deal. Dang that Dennis didn't have that engine. But maybe that guy Dave Powers in SoCal still has his. I'll dig thru my contacts here and try to find his number. There'll be a couple more ATK rebuilds out there,I'm sure. Finding an SOA crate engine will be just about impossible. And,I do have some shims new and used for the cylinder liners. Thought of the moment: Can you take the stock wheels to someone and see if they can somehow cut and rebuild them? I know nothing about doing such so pardon me if I'm way off base. Or at least then they can copy the proper offset onto a more suitable design.
  10. John,

Sorry about that. I work overnights so the best time to reach me is from around 12:30 AM to 6:30 AM or leave a message and I'll try to get back to you if I'm awake during the day.

    Nothing here for sale,sorry.

My friend Charlie Dow might have a car since he is a mechanic who buys/fixes/and sells cars. He's having some difficulties right now so if you or your brother call him please just call once and leave a message. 860-303-3840. He's a great guy and always has cheapy beaters. But he's upstate closer to Rhode Island, about another hour and 15 min. past my place coming in from NY heading east.

    Talk to you soon,

    Paul

  11. Sounds like you found them. Those are cylindrical, right? Round would be a ball. And yes, undo all grounds you can find. Clean the area of contact and all corrosion and use some dielectric grease when you set them back on.
  12. Haven't done it yet but but I've brought the same subject up before. Older Mikunis would be really cool. But my cut off would be the EA71 cars, personally. I can't see the EA81's with that old English/European sports car look under the hood.
  13. That was my first thought. If it's like the EA82 cars it'll be up under the dash above the driver's left knee ...in the US market. The EA81 folks will know. Metalic cylinder - four wires - one will be larger diameter (blue?) ....IF I'm not mistaken. Pull off the connector and check for blued or burnt post.
  14. Are you going to be up in the corner near Morgantown or ?? Not likely that you'll get to meet me this time around but you never know. There's been discussion of a possible trip to see our friends in Frederick MD. Good luck on your trip.
  15. Wow,that's like Chuck freakin' Barris'...... Grampa Munster's hot rod quality. Yummy ! Now get back into the laboratory Igor and make those carbs match in luster !! Chrome plate the air cleaner box? Hmmmmm .....
  16. Wait a minute .... he's been telling everyone its was sitting INSIDE at Carter's .... Either way its sweet but getting $5K for it now will be tough.
  17. Have fun guys! Too much going on and I'm hoping for some O/T 'cause I need some fat in the paycheck for my habit. If there's any way at all .....we'll make it with the '78 this time.
  18. I bought mine this past year. Can't recall the number - Todd will If I run across them this week I'll get the # if no reply by then.
  19. WHAT??????? I don't get this. There's EA71 automatics.....
  20. *** Sorry but this is for Gen I vehicles. Good luck with yours.
  21. Hey,can we bring our FWD and go in the woods with someone? If I don't hear from someone by like around 5-6AM then we'll probably bring the old '78 again. If you do have my number please don't call after 9PM but feel free to call around 6:30 -9AM Sunday Yes to the diner unless we're running late. Freezing cold,no tools with me....I sense danger. We'll be there :-p:grin::cool::lol:
  22. Sweety, good talking to you the other night. Sorry the battery ran out and charger in the car. Seeing some of those things you've typed I completely understand your frustrations with folks not reading, etc. and your being upset over the money and time into the car and still its not something to take to shows and feel truely proud about..... but !!!! ..... A) look at the prices of anything else that rolls and your $2300 really isn't all that much to worry about since .... you're hardly needing to go spending much more at all to at least make it a FINE daily or occasional user. And again, check the prices of these used cars here in CT and elsewhere in the northeast. You should come out with a car that's reliable and lovable for less than having to go buy a good 2.2 these days. (a good one - don't compare just any 2.2 , compare the condition Coupe vs. Local 2.2's I'm wayyyyyy overtired, must catch a nap before Igorland calls. Call tonight if you want. Mostly I just want to see you TRY to consider keeping it and maybe at least get some fun and miles out of it before turning it over. Good luck and call if you want to. I neglected to add your number and now its already off the menu so when you get a chance give me a ring. Wanna 70's headache instead?? .... just thought about that.
