  1. Righteous!!!!!!!! Cool Nick, that car is awsome for the east coast.Should be a field favorite when looked at objectively. Good start so far! I'm thinking we can get back to the crowd we had the first year we used the USMB to get folks together there. Good idea from Matt, maybe start with everyone sending $10 to the "tent kitty".The way I see it we should get real close to that magic $100 mark very quickly and should we need more we can figure the extra change needed and divy it up....or I have some other ideas too.Read on,please. Ladies and Gentlemen,It's not all that hard to go into your local dealer and explain what our group of enthusiasts is doing....and ASK for some give-aways/promotional items from them to bring to Carlisle.Make sure you tell them we are a group of Subaru enthusiasts who drive all years of Subarus. And make sure you tell them its for the Carlisle Import Show.Thousands of people attend this show. If they say no then that's life. In the past my local has given me many items to distribute even for my own personal Subaru gatherings!! So don't be shy, please. Also,if the dealer and you have a very good relationship you may want to suggest that if they give you a minor dollar amount that you'll gladly promote that dealership, and Subaru,at the Show for them. You can offer to hang a sign, pass out pamphlets, etc. If a dealer kicks in even $10 that helps, and you can easily explain where their $10 is going and how much exposure they'll be getting for that piddly sum of coinage. Main thing is if WE ALL do this we're sure to get a good amount of cash and freebies raised. I've got Dan Perkins of Milford CT covered.I have an outstanding relationship with several members of their staff,so don't anyone else bother with them, please. In the past I've "re-gifted" stickers, parts manuals, coasters, keychains, and all sorts of promo stuff from Perkins.
  2. There's a phone number ....did you call it? Haven't seen Elroy around here lately.Good luck
  3. There's no hope for that car other than parts and they probably won't be worth the time to go get for me.But there's Andrew much closer, but very busy right now.
  4. yeah yeah yeah....just don't go running off and hiding again. Shake some hands, meets some of the people you'd prefer to throw things at.:-p Just kidding.Don't be shy this year. Potential field: 360 van -some guy we don't even know who mysteriously leaves his oversized toaster with wheels on Friday night and takes it back late Sunday....but he missed this past year, didn't he? Justy '87 GL Turbo Wagon SVX '83 Sedan Baja Brat Gen II XT6 Impreza Rally Car? Legacy Legacy Legacy Loyale/GL/DL boxes possibly my '78 4WD wagon possibly a '75 coupe possibly a '73 wagon possibly Brat Gen I '82 GLF ???
  5. yes and yes. Those Bozos on the NAUSIAC board..... dorks!!!!!!!!
  6. That's a '75-6 or Stage I '77 4WD wagon.Grill makes me think it's a '76 That blue center grill badge has my eye like a mockingbird's.4WheelDrive emblem looks worth of snagging, whole grill for that matter. The grill works in Stage I Coupes!!! Looks entirely ***************in gets my vote for coolest of the old grills. I'd like that bumper too.Moss can stay with the car. Thanks Mary!

  8. Hi Ray, Yes,I do still have the '73 unrestored. It'll be a while before I can do much with it,but it's here and it's not going anywhere too soon. Andrew is the young guy in E.Windsor right by the auto auction place. He's got some deal with the guy in E.Hampton,Charlie.I was lined up to take the '75 coupe I told you about, but I guess Andrew has a deal worked out now to take it in the future.Andrew also brought back a '74 or 75 coupe from out west, looks great. So now he's got two or three of them. He's gone above and beyond the call of the average enthusiast and in the last year or so has acquired several early 70's Subarus. He also owns some 360 nonsense. Charlie is friends with both of us.Together we three went in on a small lot of old dealer stock from 1968-1979. So we should have a good chunk or parts towards each's restorations.Charlie owns a '71 wagon, and other 70's Subarus. There's a somewhat healthy vintage Subaru population in CT.There's another member here with a '78 4WD wagon, and another CT/RI guy with at least one Gen I Brat. Keep in touch.Keep searching. Honestly, the thing to do is pay the money for a transporter and get a solid one shipped from the west. The 1400's are getting more rare, but I think the thing to do is get a good 1600,later model, like a 79 GF or an FE.Or drop a 1600 into a pre-77.
  9. Are those GF model seats in the Brumby? I also had some in my old '78 waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when in the early 80's. And thanks for the great pictures.
  10. Rock 'n freakin Roll Baby!!!!!!!!!! Nice score!!!! That second gen wheel is for the Leone's.
  11. Yeah Matt,go for it! So far I've got some patches to give out.Should be able to score more dealer give-away crap too. Maybe we'll raffle off the Subaru/Leasing sign I still have to pick up from the barn near Harrisburg. Might be some chicken feathered headlights from the 70's too. Should we make a flyer to hang in dealer's parts/service depts.?I'm going to try to whip up something.
  12. Yup,kicking it off.Let's throw it around and see who latches on. Biggest gathering on the East Coast of vintage and interseting Import Cars. Edit: PLEASE REGISTER YOUR CAR UNDER THE CLUB NAME "Ultimate Subaru Club" !!!!!!!!!!!! If we get 25 cars registered we get a tent for the weekend FREE. The tent really helps!!! Pardon this post if info is repeated or out of place after this edit.Cheers...... Carlisle Import/Kit-Repli-car Show http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/import/index.asp Third weekend in May every year. Many many thanks to Matt for taking the bull by the horns last year.We all owe him applause and probably at least a few bucks too.Not sure why I never got a collection going like I intended.Matt put out some dough for the tent and I think we should have kicked in some. We'll be sure to butter his roll this year, right? Tough year in the Northeast for alot of us.Regardless,I'm planning on attending. This is a good place many of us to get together on a low budget. The Carlisle area offers plenty of affordable accomodations. And it's an easy one day event for many folks from eastern PA,NJ,lower NY,and even further if you don't mind a few hours of driving. Saturday is THE day to be there if you can. You don't need a Vintage/Historic/Antique/or even Rare Subaru to attend. You are welcome to show up in any car in any condition! There's no competition unless you want to enter into the big show. At this point I have no idea if Matt wants to run the show again or who will take the helm. But we should at least try to see if we have enough people to make the effort for the tent, etc. Either way,I am planning on attending, probably with my son or maybe the whole family. It only cost like $15 to enter your first car and $10 for a second and $5 for a third. Camping on premises is only $15 for a 10' x 30' space -*to Show Entries only*-that means you if you register a car. There's also trailer parking available. Plenty of camping nearby too.If the weather looks a little rough the hotels/motels aren't too bad at all. Some are pricey but there's plenty to shop around.Stay out away from Harrisburg and it gets cheaper. We're hoping to bring the '78 down one more time unrestored :-\ but might bring the '87 Turbo Wagon....we'll see. Hope you can join in.
  13. They show up on eBay here, and there's a guy with some Konis that I have met at the Carlisle Import Show.He definitely has 1600 series, and I really don't think those would be any different than the 1400's.Not enough to matter,in my opinion.I don't have all my manuals handy right now but I'm 99% sure they mount the same (1400/1600) and aren't much different in length and damper.
  14. Sent them out today to Bryan,Grayson,Mike B in CA,and Jim C in NJ. Thanks for all your cooperation. Round two coming soon.Hope to finish the whole lot by next week. Canadian order is boxed, just need to hit the P.O.
  15. You can use foil wrap duct tape to secure the broken stem back on too.Hack job,but that stuff is super strong and you can smooth it around tightly.Worked for me on my old '86.Need to cut small strips and helps to have good dexterity or take it out and do it. Of course,if you have a yard with old Subarus handy......
  16. Your're right about the XT,sorry.Forgot about those. But yes, turbos and n/a are different at the flange with the studs/non-studs.At least from my dealer that's the case.Aftermarket, sure you can expect differences from what the dealer has. I've shimmed out the shorter one to suit.Needed longer studs though. We just did this a few months back.
  17. MAV,please contact me ASAP,thanks. Everyone please pass along a phone number for FedEx Ground/HomeDelivery. If you don't,I'll use my phone number just to complete the form. Mike B in CA,you're all set and you will see my phone # Grayson, you're all set too,I had your number already. You two,and Bryan are getting theirs sent today.Working on others.Hang tight everybody. This being home crap keeps me too busy. BT,got your # too. I put you all down for the shipping notification so they'll send you the tracking link, one click, done. Ciao
  18. I vote "turbo vs non turbo" too. Turbo w/p's have no studs on the fan mount flange.N/A w/p's come with studs.
  19. Definitely mark the carrier to the diff. case before un-doing it. I also have asked a Subaru Mastrer Tech with over 25 years of Subaru under his belt.He says you don't want to over tighten them and at the most you go in ONE tooth for starters, and usually not any more than that.Thats if you have a slight amount of play.If just replacing old seals go back to your mark and don't go in anymore. Just put my quilted flannel in the laundry basket because of that dang gear oil stentch. More warm weather coming tomorrow!!The Northeast never had it so good in January!!
  20. Some folks say warm isn't too bad but not when its hot. That give a better chance for threads to stick to the bolt and strip out. Back and forth many times untill you get that space enough to spray PB down there.Still,go back in if you have to often.Break the corrosion and and chipping. Lots of us already have the Heli-coil or Time-sert kit for those.
  21. Yes they did. Haven't heard back on the '74.....call or email,etc.,please. Thanks
  22. Sent today: Bryan T Grayson Mike -renaisanceman Jeff -MAV Might have been one more. You guys owe a little something towards shipping or for shipping and the gasket(s). I used FedEx Ground on my account and got great rates.I rounded up the cents or may have tacked a buck or so on for Paypal fee, tape, gas, etc. All things considered you're still not overpaying more than a couple of cents when it all boils down.No profit needed. You guys are all cool for making this happen and WE ALL SAVED BIG MONEY!!!!! Just be sure to come through with the few bucks more needed to complete this circle of love. Gaskets are in boxes for you few and ready to go.the rest of you will be getting the same treatment.Look for emails coming, everyone involved, and please, let's wrap this up quickly. I'd probably be able to handle the next batch if this mops itself up nice 'n quick.Otherwise, maybe Todd or someone else will handle it. One last note.PRP only sent us 24,not 25 so I have credit on my account with them as of this moment. We will need to follow through with the next order soon to secure the price and most important, the availability, and to apply my credit toward a part instead of my credit card. That might mean 26 arriving, one of which is declared mine-paid for. Thanks again, and we'll be in touch with each other soon. Ciao, Paul
