yeah, I finally got out in the snow with my soob... unfortunately I wasnt able to take any pictures of myself in the car doing cookies and jturns, once my friend gets back from the mountain I'll have some good ones(snow flying like 10ft in the air ) all the ice came from freezing rain, pictures were taken after I had to pry open my doors with a wrecking bar cause they were frozen shut, everything had a good half inch of ice on it... had a lotta fun in the parking lot that day. the pick of the bumper you can kinda see the damage caused by sliding into a rock, the bumper is bent down on one side. I was doing a j-turn and had more traction than I expected and ending up turning really sharp into a rock.

oh absolutely... once I get money for some steel I'm gonna be lifting mine anywhere from 4-6". got myself an 81 gl wagon, been up in the ice and the snow the last couple(5) days aside from bald tires and crappy clearance(its actually really good for a CAR), the thing is a beast, i had a HARD time breaking it loose especially in that sticky soft s**t, I could do some donuts, but I settled for doing j-turns and then flipping around to do a 360... that impressed my friend in his pretty boy fully loaded 06 tundra, especially when he came over and thought I needed to be towed out, and I got out no prob and he got suck

congrats...I'm jealous... anyways for all those people who are against such behavior, whether its smart or not, there is a saying something like this: "Before you become old and wise you must first be young and stupid" pretty much saying, you havent experianced life if you've never f-ed up, unfortunately some don't always make it, and thats life.

yeah I dunno wtf I'm talking about... I should just lift my rig before i do anything else, and then deal with one thing at a time

oh dont worry I am... tis why I havent bumped my post since I posted it.. answer to my question specically was: cartridges out of a 1981-84 Toyota starlet front. It is a gabriel part number G4472, and monroe part number 72837. These are based off the interchange, the monroe cost $55.00 at the local schucks

wow only 118k!?! and 5spd d/r tranny... that looks like a nice car, wish I could help you out. thats stupid if he doesnt want to show you the car, if he wants to sell it... doesnt matter where you're coming from if you show up in person with cash in hand. -
So i poured a bunch of acetone in my fuel tank...
scrap487 replied to Danbob99's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
3oz per 10 gallons seems to be the max recomended... I would probably go with 2oz, and 1 gallon is 128 fl oz, so that would treat 640 gallons, costing you only 1.25 cents more per gallon, and if %15+ mpg gain is true, based on $2/gallon(which is the current price for gas here), %15 savings would be about $0.30 a gallon, making net savings bout $0.2875 a gallon, the cost of the acetone would have to be $192 a gallon in order for it to have no gain. also gasoline and oil are hard on rubber and other surfaces also, it often is contributes greatly to the deterioration of motor mount bushings and suspension bushings. but I have no evidence that acetone actually works, having never tried it, but if it does it would be worth it. -
isnt painting your car, and lifting it kinda contradictory? cause if you offroad it with a new paint job you've wasted a few hundred bucks cause you'll scratch it to crap in no time.... take it to a bedliner shop and have them spray the entire exterior and underbody w/ some rhino...
-
lol thats great... when its easier to fix a coolant leak by pulling the whole engine than fixing it in the car dude I gotta hand it to you, for not going quite as extreme with the lift, and for those 235s and those rims, that thing looks a beast... how well does it handle highway speeds with those tires? yeah I need to try and find some cheap 15s... i have some wheels off of my jeep but those are 5x5.5 and I'd have to get new hubs and drill em and i dont know if thatd be worth it. I'm probably gonna go find some kinda rusted crappy steelies at the used tire place up on 82nd and paint the crap out of it... need to find some rims for less than $50 total
-
GREAT post blue...seriously, everything i was gonna say and more, and said better... the hole lifting up and pushing over thing tho, I almost rolled my jeep doing something similar, no problems with a soob most likely tho, not enough suspension travel to cause problems(other than getting stuck in the first place )

walker valley is open
scrap487 replied to zed wolf's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
cool... how intense does walker valley get? ie could a stock subie wagon make it if I dont get it built up all the way by then or does it definately need some seroius modification? party? sounds good to me um... wheres mt vernon? eastern wash? -
unless seafoam is more like mmo.... most solvents that have kerosene/diesel base that are very effective, usually are only to be used for 3-5 minutes at IDLE, no revving or racing the engine, and IMEDIATELY drained from the engine after shut down, and then fresh oil put in along with oil filter..(this crap will clog your oil filter like no other btw...)

161k on my 81 sub, loudest tod ever(cause it was sittin... ) had 156k on my dads 01 obw before we sold it in 03 320k on my 83 nissan 720 4x4 kingcab... but thats not a subaru, its still a beast(although quite gutless) dad had an early 80s toyota van that had 450k on it before we got rid of it... toyota goes far if you take care of em but I've been hearing a lot bout newer model (since late 80s)toyotas throwing rods between 160-200k miles on the 4cyl engines that came after the 22r

floor jack lighter than a highlift? YEAH RIGHT... a high lift weighs maybe 30-40lbs... my floor jack weighs about 100
-
I can understand adding kerosene or diesel or other such products to the motor oil, but I dont think it'd be good for the engine to run for more than a couple seconds without any oil... but you'd probably get a majority of the crap out of there in very short order, definately will clog your already clogged oil filter
-
yeah, kerosene, deisel... they all do pretty much the same thing when it comes to oil additives right before your next change...
