Need to restrict airflow through raidator... Ideas?
Hey guys, well its -40 F this morning, and yesterday I replace them themostat cuz of a old sticking one.. Now my car is cooling too good.. I threw tinfoil over my grill to try to cut down on raidator cooling, but it didnt help all that much.. How much of my raidator can I block off with card board? Should I just block the whole thing off and drive and test to see how hot it will get? I put a 180 F thermo in there, maybe thats too low of the temps up here.. but I dont really know.... Someone help, I'm tired of freezing my @ss off

Tomorrow Emissions time!
First of all, Fix the exhaust leak.. if its a small leak, fix it with jb weld.. jsut make sure it dries all the way.. From my expirences with getting IM's (I failed 4 times before I passed) they will usually do the test for free. its the certificate that costs the money. so if you fail you shouldnt have to pay. Another thing, run your car down til less then an 1/8th of a tank.. Then get some of the Heet that has Methyl Alcohol in it (NOT THE KIND WITH ISOPROPAL ALCOHOL - WONT WORK). Dump in 3 bottles.. Then Run your car around driving hardto get your Catylistic converter nice and hot (its what reburns the unburned gas). What kind of soob is it.. If its a Hitachi Carbbed one, they have a little cap next to the Idle screw, its a little bigger then a pencil eraser.. Drill that out.. Your Air mixture screw is under that cap.. So if it fails, do that and lean out your mixture a lil bit.. Antoher thing, change your oil and air filter. That makes a difference too.. Lemme know what happens with it. Good luck

Front-end clicking sound
Grab ahold of the CV shaft and see if its got up and down play in it.. Also pull that tire off that side and inspect your brakes.. while you have the tire off you can check that bearing.. grab ahold of the axle stub and see if its got up and down play

How much thinner Gear Oil can I use in my tranny?
Well, its -35 F outside right now and I just went and drove my car.... My tranny was froze pretty solid.. I let my car warm up for 15 minutes and when I let the clutch out, the cold tranny killed the engine. Can I run thinner oil in my tranny and if so, what kind? I was wondering about SAE 30 if that'd work?

How would you fix a gas tank puncture?
The chemical General is reffering to is called purge fluid.. We use it in our chainsaws to neutralize the gas vapors, if we have to get flown somewhere in a helicopter..

Where should I put my new spoiler?
OMG, you own a soob and you dont know what hammerite is? its the best spray can paint available.. its paint with I think is fibreglass in the paint so it goes on thick, and when it dries it turns to a nice glossy coat. You can get away with 2 coats of hammerite and it will last about 10x longer hten Krylon or any other kind of paint. $3.50 at Napa or Shucks

86 Gl wagon brakes actin funny
So there I was on my weekend booze cruise in the soob, outside temp is prolly -25 F... I hit my brakes after about 20 miles of doin 70 mph+ and I found that my pedal was really hard to push down... Usually the petal goes almost all the way to the floor pretty easily.. Why is it doin this? water in the brake fluid freezin up in the lines? I only had a problem once last winter with it doin that, but it was -45 F when it happened? Any Ideas anyone?

damn egr light is on
Yeah The Light went out.. If I remember correctly.. back in the day when I first got the car (35,000 miles - one owner, my mom) I think the egr light came on at 50 or 55,000 miles and it had to be reset.... Car runs great.. if the EGR really went out, the car would run like **** wouldnt it?

Which Repair Manual?
Where can I find a Factory Service Manual for my 86 GL?
-
damn egr light is on
I said screw it and drove over to the subaru dealer and made them show me exactly where the reset is.. You have to remove the kick panel over the fusebox, then unscrew the fusebox right behind where the fusebox was up and to the left is where the reset wires are..

damn egr light is on

damn egr light is on
Alright guys.. 86 GL Wagon 4wd EA82 w/Hitachi carb.. 5 speed man. A few weeks ago my egr light came on. I checked the EGR valve itself and it still moves like its supposed to (when I push it shut it makes my car sputter out) so I assume the valve is still good... How do I get that damn light to turn off?? (I heard theres a reset switch somewhere, but I can't find it and its not in the Haynes Manual) its really annoying driving at night with a red light shining in my eyes , plz help
