  1. i love my 05 xt ...have a friend with a 99 obw..problem problems problems.
  2. i say go for it. i got my obw done 5 days after i bought it. got the back 5 done as dark as i could... i think i have pics up. guy was 3m licensed, lifetime warranty and it cost me all of 150 bucks.
  3. he's saying the people here are nicer than the people in the jeep forum. and smarter too.
  4. ok. drivers side front wheel gets replaced, new control arm, new tie rods and thats pretty much it. plus the alignment of course. and the 100 dollar tow to the dealer. and the 05 obw rental at 35/day for 5 days. 1500 bucks or so for a 10-15mph ice ride. and i only have a 250 dollar deductible. that is the only good news i got today. i wonder if this is mother natures way of getting back at me for all those times i peed in the woods when i was a kid?
  5. well yeah its going to the dealer cause theres no indie shops i trust around here tomorrow and im snagging a rental. i was just wondering if anyone maybe had similar experiences or one of the dealer shop guys here could maybe ballpark it for me..assume i dont do it myself and everything needs replaced like the post before yours stated. assume the dealer does all the work. ya see, i always assume the worst, that way im not disappointed.
  6. i was turning right off of a snow and ice covered overpass doing maybe 10mph. the road i was turning onto was pretty much all ice and i slid into a 5 or 6 inch high concrete lane divider and my drivers side front wheel is now noticeably pushed in on the lower half, but not wobbly that i could detect during the drive home.. i took a small jolt and the tire was ok but the rim is scratched up pretty good but the car was ok to drive so i went home. so the wheel is gonna need some work and im wondering just how much this may end up costing me. is this easily fixed or is this gonna turn into a major pain in the butt? could this possibly end up with me needing a new wheel assembly? im just asking cause i may need to file an insurance claim but id rather just avoid that and pay for it. thanks for any replies, yes i can post pics after the snow melts off, but i hope you get the general gist of it. heres to hoping it's easily fixed.
  7. saw this early yesterday morn in stowe vermont. they got 4 ft of snow in 36 hours last thursday etc
  8. next one may be "chill xt" however the aw3s0me plate pretty much sums it up for a lot of different aspects in my life. but the car is freakin AWESOME...can i get a hey now?
  9. ok so heres that pic of my license plate..i change them maybe 3x a year they only cost an extra 20 bucks down here.
  10. ok i simply must concur with everything ive read here today. we got maybe a foot of snow and ice and the removal around here is pathetic. i mean seriously, they may plow the main roads but they blame budget cuts for not being as diligent as they once were...anyways, im out cruising around in my 05 xt obw and im doing just fine (in case you havent heard by now, soobs are good in the snow lol) and i come around the bend and theres this lil old lady (no way could i write it better than this) and shes got her buick regal stuck on an ice mound which to her must have looked like mt everest, so i stop and shes crying on the phone to her husband, triple a is gonna take 3 hours ot get her and shes in the middle of BFE so shed have been lucky anyone found her...so we talk and i ask her if shes got a tow rope or some chain (of course she doesnt but i have to ask) i thought i had a 20000 lb tow strap in the back somewhere and i looked and didnt find it at first. then i popped off the lil rear side panel (where the stealthed subwoofer is gonna go) and lo and behold there is the brand new, unused strap. so i lay it out for her...and hook up the one end to her tow hitch and the other to my front end hook and all the meanwhile shes crying to her husband, and i said tell him youll be home in 3o minutes....20 seconds later i pulled her huge car out of the ice, and out of the ditch and shes happy as a pig in slop. she pulls out a wad of money and says take what you want, i just said, no thanks, youre my first snow pullout with this car and have a nice day and drove away. prolly blew her lil ole purple haired mind. my car is awesome in the snow. i will have to snap a pic of the new license plate. then you can all smile knowingly. yeah yeah i got the xt turbo, so what i have to run 91 or better octane in it, i love it and obviously we all love our soobs. thanks for reading, i had to tell someone and figured this was the best way to rave. woohoo!
  11. I really, REALLY enjoy my 05 XT OBW. just wanted to say that again for the gazillionth time. I don't know what I'm gonna buy next, but I'm sure I wont be over the subie for a few years , but I'm sure not gonna be a buying a lexus or volvo.
  12. im glad to hear they last a long time. i drive an 05 xt limited 5eat that just had its 11k oil change. other than new shoes (michelin pilot sport a/s) i havent changed a thing. love it best car i ever owned so far.
  13. i bought an 05 xt limited OBW back in november of last year. i drove both and loved the turbo way more than the beaner. no one buys a soob for the gas mileage i'll tell ya whut. i get maybe 21mpg in the city and i only use 91 octane or better. lately since gas is "cheaper" i have been using sunoco 93 or 94 and the car freakin loves it and i love the car. seriously best car ive ever owned and id buy again. just waiting for those legacy sti wagons to come in from japan....dont want to see a 46k pricetag on it though. thats steep.
  14. alot of my friends up in VT use the nokians for their winter needs.
  15. i scrapped the potenzas on my 05 xt obw and put a set of michelin pilot sport a/s on it. might be a bit more than you need, but i love them and havent looked back. i do plan on getting a set of steelies and maybe putting 4 blizzaks on it for the winter if we get a ton of snow. they are a reasonably priced decent snow tire from what ive heard.
  16. maybe i will take the 2.5 xt logo off the back and put an STI logo on. thatd look weird on an OBW. get some folks talkin though.
  17. carma? (sic) j/k but you set em up, i'll knock em down. hey everyone have an awesome weekend and such.
  18. it cost me 148 bucks to have my back 5 windows professionally done. Zero bubbles. money well spent... also, on a completely off topic tangent, today i just put a set of michelin pilot sport A/S shoes on this 05 leftover with 8k miles on it. more money well spent. these tires are like riding on air and so much quieter than those re92s. and the tread pattern is completely off the hook. pm me if you want to see higher res pics. sorry the last part was ot.
  19. anyone using these? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+PS2
