  1. Assuming your still inside the warrenty, take it to a different shop and have it checked out. This should get you an unbiased opinion. Then go back to the place you got the swap if you feel you should be protected by the warrenty.
  2. Sounds like you swapped in a tranny with a bad clutch pack. Who did the swap? You or a shop?
  3. if all your tires are the same model with the same mileage then check the tire pressure and change the tranny fluid. if you have mismatched tires change then ASAP and drive with the FWD fuse in until then. once you have new tires change the tranny fluid and keep a close eye on tire pressure.
  4. oem rebuild at www.1stsubaruparts.com for my legacy was 67 plus 8 bucks shipping. If the diodes are 63 i dont think its worth rebuilding yourself
  5. i have a bad alternator and a new one in the mail. The odd part is that my old alternator starts out making 14.6 volts on cold start every morning and slowing drops until the voltage gets low enough for the break and battery lights to come on. So my question is why isnt it just dead all the time? The cars a 97 legacy 2.5l, not that it really matters
  6. If you can cut it look at the 05's now that the 06's are out. There IS a big difference between the 04's and 05's.
  7. If anyone has a carfax account could you please run a car for me. The vin is JF2BC67C0MG601359. It would be very much appreciated. Thanks Charlie edit:oh well car is already sold....
  8. it needs some rear seat headrests to fill in the back end a little... and maybe a little trimming of the wing. id agree with the lower windshield too
  9. it is caused by having different diameter tires. on an awd car all the tires need to be the same brand, size, model, and amount of wear. subarus spec is that they must be within 1/4 inch circumference. you can check to see if that is your broblem by putting a 20 amp fuse in the fwd fuse holder located on the back of the passenger side strut tower (in my car anyway). if that solves the torque bind then tires are your problem (or at least one of them)
  10. im assuming if you know what it is you know why you got it and what you need to change to not do it to your new tranny?
  11. Well i got them on today, $346 in the end. I havnt driven much on them yet but i can say theres a huge improvment in cornering and ride. The thing that surprised me the most was how QUIET they are, i have a little wind noise around the drivers side window but no more tire noise to speak of. Ok now for the really, REALLY big news, i have no more torque bind! this car has had mismatched tires on it for probably 50k miles or more and now that there all the same its smooooooth as butter!!!!!!!
  12. if your oil is over filled it can also get frothy and not cool properly... but i doubt 1 qt would do to much damage
  13. well it looks like i should be getting these from tires plus tomorrow. a little higher price than tirerack.com but i need them now. at $61 a tire its not too bad. thanx for the help Charlie
  14. ive been getting between 14 and 18 in all short trip (av 10 mile) stop and go driving, that sounds terrible to me but the car is running in warmup mode a lot of the time. what are people doing to improve mileage? only 200 miles between fillups sucks
  15. just wondering if anyone on the board is running Yokohama Avid H4S and if so what they think of them. tirerack.com gives them very good reviews. Im also open to any other tires you might like but winter brakeing is very important without have dedicated snow tires. Thanx for any opinions Charlie
  16. get the codes pulled and post them here. someone will me able to point you in the right direction then
  17. and just to throw it out there the new 5EAT has a 45/55 front/rear split
  18. I would be more worried about the owner and history of the car than the year. You wanna know everything you can about what mods may have been done as well as undone and you can be pretty sure a new gear set is in your future. Just understand that almost for sure your getting a car that has been beat up!
  19. i think airbags go off around 40 or so but not sure for this exact car. (btw anyone know how exaclty the car desides to use them or not, is it speed based)
