its not the rotors or the pads i checked them and there smooth as silk with plenty of meat left...however i can shake the wheel back and forth and thats whats makingthe noise.....the boot is torn so it could be the inner tie rod end and where the tie rod connects to the wheel the bushing is completely gone u can see the ball joint and theres alot of free play in it..so i was thinking about just replacing the end (outer) towards the wheel but after thinking about this more its prolly the whole thing that is shot...i didnt look at the inner end real good but thats prolly just as beat as the one towards the wheel haha still confusing? anyways if u know where i could get a cheap set up lemme kno... -

how about if i just need something like a rubber bushing for the outer ball joint....the bushing is completely gone and when i hit the brakes it rumbles like a jack hammer coming down hills....is there a way to just pop off the tie rod end fit it with a bushing then snap it bak on...or am i just sounding uneducated -

you guys are prolly getting sick of this discussion.....but i have an 1.8 and i deliver food on weekends so i put on about 80 miles in 3 hours some trips are less then a mile to where some i drive 3-5 miles away to give someone there delicious chinese food. when im not working i sometimes do drive far but rarely at highway speeds mostly just on and off 55 going through town roads....i have 141,000 miles and am currently using 10w30 i need to change my oil what do u think
-
so take my car for example...93 impreza fwd 1.8 141,000 miles im actually due for an oil change now so ill be doing that soon.....should i keep going with the 10w 30 or something a lil thicker better? synthetic? i heard soo many different things about synthetic and then theres synthetic blend....can anybody update me

im only the second owner...however i think the last owner had a daughter who prolly didnt know how to drive 5-speed at first so what do u suggest i do when if i replace it....just do the normal clutch kit or replace the cable and what else? i know the cable is prolly pretty shot the boot that is supposed to be where it sticks out in the engine comp. is torn basically doesnt do nothing but collect greese...might have allowed moisture to get in there and start to play its role

i own a 93 impreza fwd......my throwout bearing is only getting louder and when i talked to the previous owner he still insists that its a newer clutch...i bought the car at 130,000 miles....the hillholder is disconnected and im sure he didnt do it the right way of doing it if there is one...and when i first purchased the car i had to get used to the soft clutch....i see on these threads that some ppl complain about the stiff clutches but im the exact opposite...i was use to driving an older dakota...the distance from the clutch being engaged to disengaged was alot shorter then that on my impreza...maybe that has something to do with the hill holder being undone?? if u have any ideas lemme know....the clutch doesnt slip and it would feel like a waste to replace it if it still does the job....however if the soft clutch thing isnt normal than i would like to fix it....i hate having to release my foot like (what it feels like 4-6 inches) untill it engages thanks, sean

i've heard that same noise coming from my old buick regal...never thought twice bout driving that thing bak n forth to the jersey shore during the summer months bout 3 hours from here.....its proll def not anything good tho as soon as the regal dies is when i will begin to experiment in automechanics
-
ha thats def the case nipper...i dont wanna pop off the cover without knowin what the hell im doing.....the car has 140,000 miles on it im not sure when the timing belt was last changed so im guessing it probably would have to do with the tensioners...i called the mechanic yesterday and he didnt find out whats wrong yet im going to call him today to see whats up...if he still doesnt know then ill call up a local subaru dealership and see if they could tell me whats wrong by a detailed description maybe they've had a case like this before.....haha i'll def try the water gun test once i get home...and let u guys know its a 93 impreza fwd 140,000 miles once it warms up im gonna start working on the car learning the basic mechanical repairs step by step....its too cold to work on it now and i have no garage to take it to...this summer i can bring it to work with me..i got a bunch of buddys down there that know about jeeps and trucks but never had a subaru before...

can anyone living in northeast pa lend a hand? my impreza stalled on me the other day after making an odd noise for a week it stalled on me and then the noise just got worse...its kinda like a screeching/grinding noise coming from the center of the engine i was thinking waterpump but my coolant is still full no leaks and my temp is still the same...the car even started bak up an ran fine but i didnt wanna run it too much incase it would ruin something.....i called the garage that i bought it from and they came and towed it away to the shop... that being friday and today being monday i called to see if they know whats wrong yet and they have no explanation.....this aint no subaru dealership just some private mechanic/collision center they do it all.....if anybody has any help in diagnosting what this could be or perhaps is relatively close to jim thorpe pennsylvania...i dont have much money being a student although i can work on getting u what you'd need to fix the prob and a decent amount of money to do so, id rather pay one of you guys the money then some car sales man trying to make a sale.....if anyones up for the challenge or just provide a little help id appreciate it.... i previously had someone say it could be the bearings on an older thread but hopefully thats not the matter or else i'd have a fist full of bills to pay for labor

would it be worth buying the car to make it off-road it doesnt have d/r nor does it have a 5 speed
-
is there any offroad modding that can be done to a loyale? my boss has one that he'll probably sell
-
what would happen in ur rings blew? would the car still run? just stall occasionally? i have no idea but my car stalled today and theres been noise coming from the engine recently..so as soon as it broke down today i took no hesitation to call a garage...although im dreading the bill i have no garage and not enough knowledge to determine the problem

my speedo also doesnt work...however mine moves..just bounces back and forth never accurate...took it to the garage i bought it from we replaced the cable didnt do anything....so he says its the speedo unit..the whole dash...however to replace that would mean i have to go with the miles that are on the dash im getting from the junk yard right? how does that work?
