back to the topic....what about steering? ball joints tie rods? those seem like they would be the first to wear...and wheel bearings whats the best ones to buy legacy? im def looking into skid plates...but still unsure about struts/springs i'll have to surf the web more

i live right at the bottom of the broad...in nesquehoning..i just bought a 96 2.2 maroon impreza awd 5-speed..and my g/f drives around my old white impreza u see me? (all the way from kentucky)

anybody have a car that might fit this category....i'd like to start working on my 96 imp 2.2 once i start making some money this summer...but dont have a whole lot to get anal about power or performance...i just want something i could have fun driving on the mine roads around here and not have to worry about breaking something everytime....i understand that things will break...but whats the best way about modding ur own "rally car" with not so high budget...things like suspension and such...i would wanna put on things that are strong and probably those outback struts n springs to gain a little more height?? any suggestions

yea thats true...i'd probably have to check it out on my car to see about the single port...however i must get my car inspected at the end of april..if his cats would throw me a cel isnt there a way where u can kinda ground out the o2 sensor so it thinks its working?

well he has the whole system from his for really cheap..im just lookin for something that'll work and i thought maybe his would work the same if not better...for me to go out and buy a new cat its way more than his whole exhaust im gonna hold out tho...i just hate driving around sounding like an a**hole with my exhaust cracked open

there must be something seriously odd about my car...b/c it definately has two cats and a resonator but i took it to get the cel read and its not obdII (96 impreza L 2.2) if u dont think it'll work than im not chancing anything..i just keep looking for my model exhaust

has anyone ever used an exhaust from a newer impreza into an older one....im not trying to gain horsepower or any of that...my exhaust just sucks and i found the whole system from cats back only problem is its from a 2.5 99 rs im not sure if it would mess with my o2 sensors or cause any other kinds of problems.....

for a cel check..and there plud wouldnt work i thought my car is odbII it has two cat's and its a 96 the plug i found in my car was rectangular the one he had what more trapazoid.. would autozone work?

he has alot of miles on his flex pipe...and i cant imagine a day when its not submerged in mud..but yes he does have a stainless steel one

no high performance is not needed here...i was just reading the other exhaust thread and that whole backpressure low end torque...i def dont want to have to go up hills in 3rd

no the flex pipe is legit my buddy has one on his truck...i was just worried about cutting off a cat and resonator...the o2 sensor in on the cat...is there any way of grounding it or something so it thinks its woprking....and what can occur when the o2 sensor is non functional? PM sent

where does the noise come from...b/c i have almost 200,000 miles on a 96 2.2 awd 5-speed i just bought...and whenever i accelerate i hear a noise from what it seems below the dashboard /?? and like u sayd only when i accelerate when im off the gas theres no noise

i think the oxygen sensor might be on the second cat...how many problems would i be facing with that route? would it just give me a check engine light all the time....or can it stop me frmo starting my car? on a side note i took my car to advanced auto to do the whoel check engine light thing...and there plug wouldnt match mine....any other places that would be able to do it for free

yea im familiar with lancaster....how about the flex pipe? it'll only cost like 20 bones....chop off the cat and the resonator...then install the flex pipe

well i dont know him that well...and me just turning 18 doesnt help either but i could guarantee it that some of the older folks around here know him plenty well.....im going to joes junkyard in new ringold near cabela's sound familiar? we both live in PA not sure where akron is tho what do u suggest i do if i cant get a used cat...go buy a stock one for 100 dollars or spend the money and upgrade my exhaust?

i recently broke my exhaust piping where the resonator and cat converter connects...we threw a weld in just to hold them together for now...but im gonna be visiting the junkyard soon...what are my options? im going to need the cat converter and the resonator that whole housing is rotted away what kind cars should i be looking for...and what do u think about cutting the pipe before the cat and after the resonator then just throwing in a flex pipe from napa?

yea i did that but when ur standing in front of the engine alls u hear is the engine ya kno? when driving its not as loud as it would be standing in front of the car...im gonna meet up with my friend today so would could weld my exhaust back together it pulled away after the cat...he knows alot about vehicles so its possibly he might know....but now that u mentioned it, it does sound similiar to gears...are there any good websites that would show u a diagram of the whole drivetrain of an awd subaru

its none of those noises...i suffer them with my 93, but with this its different...i dont know alot about fuel supply or any of the vacume lines but you dont normall hear the sound untill ur in 3rd gear or higher...and it changes pitch everytime u press the gas... its going to be too hard for me to explain the noise so u guys dont have to try and diagnose...just hoping maybe someone with there 2.2 hears the same noise

its only been three days since i had the car...i think today ill have someone pull out in reverse a few times and see what i think.....when ur inside the car u cant really pin point it from anywhere

i just wanted to see whats out there...when i got the car all of the tires were at 10 psi it was pathetic how low they were....i asked the guy if the tires leak just joking cuz there was no air...and hes goes (no, why do they look low) scared the ************ out of me b/c hes been driving it for probably the past 6 months like that...still got the "summer" air in them haha
