its just a crappy little round piece, not much beef on it at all....am i going to be regretting it later on that i didnt drain my tranny oil again and replace it.....whats the symptons that can occur? when i replaced the drain plug i wraped some teflon tape around the threads so i dont think it'll leak.. (tho i could be wrong) and whats the normal amount of build-up to form at the magnet of the plug i have a 96 impreza 2.2 5-speed 197,700miles....and when i seen how much metal shavings were on the end of the plug (1/2 inch thick at least) it made my heart drop to my stomach.....this is the first change since i've had the car and i also changed the rear diff. oil and once again my heart sunk when i realized there was hardly any oil in it and the stuff that did come out....was a thick grey color....now that i changed it....its not as nasty of a noise now when going in reverse..it almost sounds like the normal whine that these cars have instead of the grinding dropping weights noise.

woah i dunno what happened back there...but someone with power should delete those useless posts...and yes the car is on the road right now...but it'll need an inspection sticker come october..so im not really in a hurry just figured i'd get all this done while were on the subject then to wait a couple months and probably never finish it

i think im just going to pull a steering wheel from the junkyard and then just swap them out that way i wont have to deal with all the b/s.....but as far as that gap between the headlight and bumper...im def going to fix that she doesnt care but its driving me nuts.....i just havent had the time to work on it yet, i was hoping the garage was going to take care of all of it im going to look into that come-along sounds alot better then dragging two vehicles out to the cvs parking lot and chaining one up against those big yellow poles then pulling with a truck haha right now the car is green white and maroon...anybody know anyone that can paint a car for a fair price...i dont have a garage to let it sit between coats and all.... thanks for all the advice -sean

how does the airbag actually shoot out?...is there a canister of nitrous or something, or a chemical combustion? haha i've always wondered

just got the car back today.....they did a great job pulling the frame out for me on the side that was crashed however now on the opposite side theres like an 1 1/2 inch gap between the headlight and front bumper. (in other words the bumper is about an inch below the bottom of the headlight).... i dont wanna complain to the guy that did it...b/c he helped me out big time ( guy i work with talked to his dad, who talked to the guy at the body shop, who did it for only like $135) im not sure what a fair price is...but i know for sure at "kovatch" the place that did it nothing is that cheap..... so $135 for the frame pulling 25 for the fender from EZ Pull 50 for the bumper and bumper beam from Harry's free hood from my car as soon as i get my hoodscoop and vents for my rs hood free headlight and corner light as soon as i get my rs ones in the mail ?? for steering wheel with airbag and then we should be pretty ok.....right now its green maroon and white...but once i get everything straightened up i think shes gonna have it painted pink ill take some pics tomorrow, i keep forgetting im thinking maybe i could just get away with jacking the bumper beam up while having a bunch of people sit on the front of the car haha... so whats this "come along" and hows it work....also wtf does "FTW" mean im always see'n it and u never know if u never ask also how should i go about replacing my g/f's airbag? just pull a steering wheel from the junkyard that already has it or pull the airbag from the junkyard steering wheel and then just install it in the one i have? i didnt get a chance to look into that yet as thats not on the list of priorites right now...

well tomorrow...its going to a collision center to have it pulled out...we were going to try and tie it to a tree and pull the other end with a truck...but lately everything has been wet and the trucks tires would only spin.....ill let ya's know how it turns out....i forgot to take a picture of the most violent part of the bend....right under the intake box theres a big wrinkle from where the front got pushed in...i cant believe i forgot to snap a shot of it anyhow i'll let yas know how it ends up tomorrow still looking for a front right fender...went to harry's today and couldnt find one anywhere....did come home with a bumper and bumper beam tho

some pics that my g/f took while things were being pulled off...tomorrow im gonna snap pictures of where the frame actually buckled in right under the intake box... if u guys are wondering whats in the backround...the cars are parked at my rafting center where i guide whitewater trips during the summer...for those who dont know northest Pa has been hit with alot of rain...and had the lehigh river peaking at about 25,000 cfs...when normally its at about 500 cfs ...during dam releases about 800-1300 cfs (cubic feet/second). it hasnt been this high since hurricane ivan and before ivan it was like 15 years ago during hurricane agnes i think.... before adrienne crashed the car driving barachie back to college....me and all the guys snuck onto the river with our kayaks and ran both the upper and lower parts of the lehigh...what should normally take 7 hours, took only 2 haha it was intense...the one rapid called bridal viel(veil)w/e, was so huge it could have easily swallowed buses...luckily we all avoided that hole or else someone prolly would have drowned haha if anyone ever wants to go rafting sometime let me know and ill hook ya up...its good times even when the water isnt this high in case the pictures dont work: http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?action=viewAllPhotos&albumID=551784153

no completely true....as soon as we all got out of the car waiting for the cops and etc. barachie, the other guy that was with said that she should have gone with us up on the mountain more often driving around the dirt roads (just joking around)...but its true i also have an impreza but mine is awd and mine wasnt available when we started driving i can still kick my a** for letting her drive..but its her car and im always giving her ************ about driving bad....honestly tho now that were all ok i think the crash was a good thing b/c now i know she'll def drive safer..

only hit once during the spinning and when we hit we stopped right after...basically just the front right corner headlight and all...it still runs and drives not 100% but i drove it like 7 miles to the rafting center where i work...so we can work on it and it did fine...let me know about that bumper that will definately be needed...the other bumper is garbage now

your right i wasnt the one driving....and once she realized she was going to crash "she stopped driving" she yelled my name so then its my turn to take over....if i hadn't taken the wheel bro we would of went right into the creek and about thet front bumper...yes i can def use it...whats your zipcode? checked out the car today took a bunch of pieces off it ....the front right end is pretty F'd up. I'll post some pics tomorrow....only the right side is bent...so maybe we could try and pull it back out just so holes match up for fenders and all.... im gonna need a front right fender, front bumper, bumper beam, both turn signals, i guess it would be the radiator bracket(metal part that goes across the front), she's also gonna need a passenger headlight and a hood..but i should be able to give her mine once i get my rs ones in the mail for my conversion......oh ya shes also gonna need a new steering wheel....like i said im going to check the local yards...but if any of you guys can help us out i'd appreciate it.....

we were on our way to drive one of our buddies to college.....to make a long story short since the whole night has been crazy....roads were at flood like conditions.....we were going around a left turn onto a bridge.. i felt like we were going to fast so i grabbed the wheel...when i grabbed it i felt no traction and the car just keep going forward completely understeer....so i hang on to it with the wheels pointed left after the car hydroplains the front wheels bite and the rear end slides around...so then i countersteer it, but once she feels me moving the wheel to the right she started to help me...and then initially we oversteer right into the concrete bridge......holy************ we were lucky no one was hurt...airbag went off.... the part of the bridge we hit got knocked off and fell into the screaming creek luckily we hit towards the end where it was rooted into the ground rather than the parts that are just sitting on top of a beam acting as a guard rail.....after we hit we all get out...me and the guy we were taking to college push the car to the side of the road into someones driveway...and do the usual thing (call cops, etc.)4 1/2 hrs. later im home telling u guys the story.... once we started driving i realized how badly the roads were flooded and said we should go back and take my car b/c the one we were in didnt have good tires and was fwd......that and im always nervous when leaving the old lady drive....so i figured i'll let her do her thing without having to tell her to slow down every few seconds...so i started reading the motorsports magazine...untill we take that turn....after settling down the local neighbor tells us how theres always accidents going around that bridge when its wet out....and said if we would have hit the side when we were actually over the water we would have gone right into the creek...and by the looks of the flooded creek we probably would have floated downstream quit awhile untill we could get out..... finally when the tow truck comes...we were talking and he was telling me how bad it was out today....that he had to pull a kid and his car out of the nearby creek..cuz the car flipped on its roof my buddy actually got to take pictures since he was going back to college just to finish up two photography classes.....once i get them i'll post the damage.....but eh if any of u guys learn something from this...wear your seatbelt we both put ours on from joking around earlier about how bad of a driver adrienne is ( my g/f) and how its raining with bad tires...and wouldnt ya know it we crashed..only injury was a small rash from the airbag and her face meeting..first crash i've ever been in and glad it was a happy ending....i feel like an a**hole for not switching cars when i could have but thats life....im just glad i grabbed that wheel or else we prolly would have either gone right through the bridge or flipped right over it.... in the meantime if anyone has any aspen white gc front body parts let me know....hopefully when i can take a look at it, the frame wont be bent what do u guys think i should look out for b/c of the crash...its a 93 FWD 5-speed 1.8 impreza....(suspension, drivetrain, steering,etc?) all the major stuff is still ok...even the radiator is good im just worried about the sheet metal

how neccesary is it to have the front rotors resurfaced...when ur going to replace pads? i'll prolly check the thickness and all...but is it going to ruin my new pads and cause squeaking
