  1. i had that same thing happen to me....i ended up cutting off both flanges and welding in a custom steel pipe to sleeve them....good luck....
  2. i always take turns going 65 where i live....mostly all the locals do too..granted from witnessing this i may think twice next time but i dont think its your fault at all, ************ happens
  3. studded winterforce....use them on both imprezas FWD and AWD....sometimes too much traction that u cant play in the snow this is the first winter that im using them on my recent aquired AWD impreza L haha...had them on the FWD L for 3 winters only time i spit studs out was when i was going e-brake happy when there wasnt much snow
  4. check your steering rack or tie rod ends, my g/f's impreza wobbles all over the place...i havent had the time to fix it yet but i know she needs a new cv axle and theres alot of play when u push on her tie rods
  5. thats what i figured it was...but i was hoping it could be something stupid....since i cant afford a tranny swap "still wishing i had my own garage"
  6. I've been there ONCE...although i cant say anything about their parts i prolly wont go back again...the guy at the counter was a complete *********************, so I now stay with harry's u pull it/kress auto wreckers...or i go to another place named BARS, i think there going out of business so you should try calling them, tell them you heard they were selling parts very cheap ; ) 610-767-2111 they only do import cars
  7. jesus christ mine is doing the same thing/.....just started acting up like 3 days ago....i was just about to post my complaint but i thought i'd try to search first... lemme know what happens with ya...shoot me a pm everyonce in awhile
  8. thats good news....i was told both from different ppl... i heard from one guy that whatever came stock must be working...even if its something stupid like a rear window wiper...and then from another guy saying...that it shouldnt matter if it has an airbag or not normally we just go to a "lick and stick" but he's out of tags...and she's been illegal for the pass 9 days
  9. i have a habit of typing without thinking first.....i was referring to the seals beneath the timing covers......valve cover gaskets are easy, but i dont like to mess with the sensitive things without the proper tools or place
  10. i knew you were going to say that..haha but i cant afford the labor for all of that....and this came so random...so im still gonna try to tighten the bolts on the valve covers and hopefully that'll be the problem haha yea right it desperately needs a good tune-up tho, timing belt was last changed at 120k and water pump was probably never changed.....if i had my own garage and it was summertime again i'd tackle all of this myself with a pal or two...but i use this thing everyday for school and hardly have enough time after class to go to work..trying to work on my car is out of the question with no time to do it i posted a thread awhile ago about trying to get some help with doing it...i'd pay them, plus i could learn some ....but no luck; so incase anyone see's this one.....i'll pay you cash (completely confidential so you can spend it on w/e without your old lady yelling)to do some charity work for a stranger..."you'll feel good afterwards"
  11. sometimes, its so simple haha.....im def going to be pulling out her speedo tomorrow...her sensors def. blew up...i found a car at the junkyard that had the sensors and all the wiring etc. but I wasnt planning on trying to get her airbag to work again (which would prolly turn into me mounted a sensor too loose and her hitting a speed bump and having the damn thing go off in her face) thanks for some common sense haha....BTW its a 93 so they cant tap into anything beside those little connectectors at the bottom of the dash...and im sure he wont
  12. my g/f crashed her impreza a few months ago and now the car needs to be inspected....i put a new airbag in the steering wheel so it looks normal but the damn light is still on....is there a way i can shove a resistor in a plug somewhere? any body know where? and how much resistance? or if u have an inspection agency....will it pass with the light still on? thanks -sean
  13. for the engine oil.....im drippin alot of oil all of a sudden...normally never dripped at all....im thinking last time i changed the oil i might have overfilled it being in a hurry...and maybe caused it to squeeze its way through whichever seals or gaskets it may be coming from... any opinion what to do, besides taking the engine apart to replace seals?...i havent really gotten a chance to clean everything up and check where its leaking from, since i've got classes during the daylight and work after classes plus i have no garage to shelter me from the elements... im just lookin for a possible quick fix if there is one...im going to make sure all the bolts are tighten'd up on the valve covers tomorrow morn. before school hopefully being able to clean the underside this weekend
  14. i tried installing a kartboy in my 96 impreza....and i came to conclusion that my shifter wasnt meant to come out i ended up bashing the little white things that keep it squeezed in there...then i went to put the kartboy in and realized tha kartboy's ball was smaller in diameter than my stock one...so i had to go and buy new shifter linkage from an RS to put inplace of my stock one
  15. crazy update.....i was driving today doing deliveries...and when i stopped the car and got out i noticed smoke coming out of my scoop and vents...it wasnt extreme smoke like a fire under the hood...but it definately wasnt normal steam....the guage still read 1/4 way this whole time.... so i turn off the car check the radiator, its full and steaming....i couldnt find no leaks and since the car wasnt completely overheated i drove it home on the way home the temp gauge was actually higher than the 1/4 before still not at normal oper. temps but almost.....i cranked the heat on to see if the guage would go back to reading cooler like before and it didnt....i got home it wasnt smoking anymore so now im here....the ride home was only about 6 miles....am i getting little paranoid since i cant read my engine temp anymore or are these symptons from something stupid
  16. yea...what a great story killer...i wanted to hear how u were bashing ur knuckles trying to break it loose...and then u rounded off the treads etc. etc. j/k good for u haha i wish all my frozen bolts would come off like that
  17. cut it off and then drill it out....haha i guess just keep doing what your doing....those are a pain to get out
  18. yea thats what im thinking....i just gotta find some time to get to the junkyard and pull one
  19. heater works....i havent had time to screw with the temp gauge yet....but whats the worst that could happen if indeed my thermostat is broke?
  20. lately (past 3 days) my temp gauge wont stay in the middle....while im driving its usually somewhere near a 1/4 of the way up....and then if i stop the car and let it sit for a little it will start going back up to the middle but never dead center any of u guys have this problem before? or is my rs hoodscoop just doing such a great job of keeping things cool all of a sudden its a 96 impreza L and before this stupid problem arose....it would read in the middle steady....only going down when u turn off the car BTW-sorry for not using any kinds of intellegience when writing this post, but iom really tired right now so im allowed to not make sense
  21. im not too intelligent...but if i was in your situation i'd go to a local junkyard grab a speedo cable and then put it in your car..... but im sure someone else will help you from the board haha just my .02
