my EJ22 has 203k miles and i wanted to do the whole timing belt, gears, seals etc. but i have no garage and i wouldnt feel comfortable doing it myself incase i run into some probs. im sure i can always save up more cash and have a garage do it...but i'd like to get some wrenching time with it so i will be able to do the same on my g/f's impreza.... if theres anybody out there from northeast Pa who has changed their timing belt before and has a garage or front lawn to do it in....i'll glady pay you to just breathe down my neck, let me use some tools i might not have and make sure i do it right....you wont even have to get your hands dirty "if you dont want".....my goal is to get this done before it gets too cold out and before my car breaks down on my way to class.... if you could give me some help i'd really appreciate it...hell if u ever wanna go whitewater rafting or paintballing haha i'll hook you up for free...other than that i can only offer you a fair amount of cash for your time and kindness.....im currently enrolled in college so money is tough to get to since i dont have time to work...but there is such things as school loans and i think it would be appropriate in order to get my transportation in realiable shape appreciate any responses -sean

explain to her how much work needs to be done to it...since its at the 60k mark....haha and then ask her to drop the price 50k miles is pretty rediculous tho....unless her dad went to the junkyard and pulled a speedo for the car....i wish i woul dhave found a deal like that should last long time to do the timing belt, seals and all that stuff is going to be some work...unless your a mechanic...and if u cant do it yourself then its going to be some money..lots of money

my car has 202,000 miles and its a 96 2.2 impreza L AWD 5-speed im not sure when last the axles were replaced....but right now both sides are shot....so i bought 2 aftermarket refurbished axles and im thinking about installing them this weekend.....what will i need besides the axles am i going to need any kind of washers, seals..etc i've read some write-ups and cant recall whether they installed new seals or didnt.....and what about ball joints? i figure im gonna have to pull the control arm away from the hub....i dont know how well the balljoint boot will hold up...is it hard to replace the ball joints? or is that not necessary thanks -sean

i have a 96 impreza L...and after taking an hour to tear out my old shifter....i go to install the kartboy shifter and the ball is too small for the socket, slips right in and slips right out....now i dont think i have the older style linkage like my g/f's 93 L....hers the shifter is the fork where as my shifter is teh barrel...however the L shifter ball is bigger than the kartboy ball....and the kartboy barrel doesnt fit in the linkage fork.....its too wide so maybe for some stupid reason 96 was the older, newer style shift linkage....anyways i wanna use this kartboy shifter....so what should i do....will the whole shifter assembly from an rs work with the tranny?...should i get the sti short shifter assembly..... im sure this has happened to someone else.....help me out -sean

update: just checked out the filler pipe and its rust-free....however i was tracing it towards where the gas was leaking from, and i discovered that the metal pipe turns into a rubber hose held by clamps....im not aware if thats stock or not...but the clamps look fairly newer so im thinking maybe there was a rust problem down there and someone began to fix it....i could'nt really see the otehr end of the rubber hosing b/c its above the rear mustache but when i stuck my hand through there to feel i was breaking off alot of corrosion so sometime i'll have to explore that.....
