  1. I have done that: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53143 My Loyale have two return lines, so I did plug them between theirselves, and that way it works very fine.
  2. No Way! First verify that you didn´t got the Redline / Weber 730 Kit, (It is intended for the EA81 Engine) you need the 731 Kit, wich is designed for the EA82. The EA81 is a Single Plate Adaptor, the EA82 is a two plate Adaptor. go see them at: www.webercarburetors.com Also, I recently did that conversion in one of my two loyales, You can see my Pics Here: Everything Started Here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51053 And Finally, I did "Weberize" my Subie, Here is the Link to the Thread that got the Pics: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53143 I must tell ya that the screws that came with my two plate adaptor wasn´t right, because they send me four of 3/16" (Black with hexagonal wrench head) and Four Milimetric (Silver with Phillips Screwdriver Head) The problem with that screws is that the Black ones are in Inches and didn´t fit the Subie´s millimetric pattern, and the Millimetric ones where much taller (1"). The Solution was to buy another four in the Harware Store, with the same millimetric size of the silver ones, but in 1/2" long (Half of the Kit´s Silver ones) The new ones, as the Silver ones of the kit have this issue: The Head reach only the lower half of the bottom plate´s holes. but works fine. It doesn´t matter because the screws heads hides in the first Plate. I Think it will help you. Good Luck!
  3. ...Well... Look at This Site: http://www.sjrlift.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=a189c302325f8452ff8a3bae62513067 I know that They have kits to Easy Lift any EA82 Subie... not matter FWD or AWD... It´s Easy buy Isn´t Cheap...
  4. Yes! Please Look at this Thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40472 They are in the 4th Page. Good Luck!
  5. ...Yes... well... Almost, there might be some sort of variation due to use / abuse (I Mean Overheatin´ the Engine, and the Wear) but is the same design, Basically.
  6. Well... Here in Honduras we got the EA81T (Turbo) in 1983. The EA81T was only made in late 83 and the 84yr. It came in the Wagon, the Brat and the 2dr Coupe. All were 3spd autos with push button 4wd (single range). The early ones only had oil cooled turbos until the dearlerships recalled them and added water cooling. The engines were very easy to overheating, it usually would blow a head gasket and/or crack the heads if not shut down quick enough when hot. or if you try to put fresh water over the radiator, etc... when they overheat. Other than that, they were fun cars, not timing belts to change. It will bolt up to all 5spd D/R trannies, but to do a conversion from carb to turbo is a major undertaking... The engine crossmember, all the electrical from the dash forward, fuel system, etc. You basically need a donor car. Look what I found: Those are "Turbone's" Pics. His Album is at: http://usmb.net/gallery/album14
  7. Well... My experience is that my Loyale 1985 EA82 weberized Really "Loves" the "Almost Redline" shiftin´. Let me Explain: If I drive only between 2,500 and 3,000 I will have the "Tick of Death" music, due to low oil pump pressure that is due to low acceleration. So I only drive like this if I feel sick, depressed, or the streets are full of cars... (Jammed) ...Or at the Mall parkin´ lot... But since new, my Loyale is always driven to shift between 2,900 to 3,500 RPM´s and it´s engine is very fine, even with over 250,000 original miles on it. Also, more RPM´s guarantee more Oil Pressure, and More Oil Pressure will extend your engine´s life; let me explain it again: If you travel long up hills, and your subie can take that in 4th, but at just about 2,100 RPM´s... You´ll see the Oil Pressure needle Too Low, it means more wear to the engine, due of two facts: First, when you go up hill, your engine works more to pull all the weight up, and Second, there is when it needs more oil pressure to fight the increased internal wear that result of more work, and slow revs (Means Low Oil Pressure) + more work is = Shorter engine life due to fast wear. So, if you drive it in 4th at almost 2,100 you´ll go at somethin´ between 60 or 70 KPH (Depend on Tire Sizes, etc... ) but if you shift Down to 3rd Gear, you´r engine will rev-up to almost 2,900 RPM´s to get the same speed, BUT you gain More Oil Pressure to Fight the Internal Wear... and the Gasoline consumption is just a li´l bit more... but it pays itself by longer engine life. Believe me: the other cars on my Family have good longevity drivin´ like this, like the Mercury Comet Caliente Coupe from 1969 (Dad has it since new) and the engine is still original, and so on goes the examples... So, if you drive your engine "Fast" it not nesscesary means shorter engine life, I really think it could mean Longer Engine Life... I Always shift down to 3rd in up hills, (Even if my subie can handle it in 4th perfectly) and cruise at 80 KPH on it... engine above of the 3K range and it has been over 20 years of it... almost every weekend... Hours and Hours of Travels in our extremly mountany Honduras, and the Subie feels VERY good! What do you Think ´bout it? Also, I Love the "Feelin´" that the Sound of a Weberized EA82 fast accelerating can make at 5,000 rpm´s or above... People scares thinkin´ that the engine will blow away and blow my head by the way... and blow theirs too ... but it is Fine, is just a "Boxer" feelin´ You know...
  8. No, I didn´t seen that before... I Like that car, even the Color... Also I really think that the Trans is UnSubaru Like, Maybe Porsche... But if it works great is Cool! I would Love to take a Ride in that Subie...
  9. Well... I think everything is fine with your Hill Holder; but you must know that if you tight very much the adjustment, you can make that the hill holder cable do pressure in your clutch everytime... even a Little bit can make to wear the clutch / press soo fast, It is like driving a car with the left foot resting on the clutch pedal all the time. So be careful, and see if your hill holder cable is not holding the clutch without pressure in the pedal. Also: Wich Studebaker?
  10. Well... I think that Drive it too fast in my country would be a true nightmare! But here I saw, long Long time Ago, somethin´ like that... It was built backwards... Let me Explain: it was some sort of Go-Cart, with the EA81 engine in the Rear. I said "Some Sort" because it was really weird. But I think I´ll Love to take a Ride on it! Pretty Scary...
  11. Well... It sounds more Like the Holes Came Just in SOME Models, not in All EA82, Because mine does Not have any Holes. Also I know that the very first Editions of EA82 got diferent recirculating gas stuff in the Heads. So, Maybe your Heads got that Holes just as a Drain of the Upper area of the Engine, but not all EA82 got them... Also, I live Outside of the USA... Maybe our EA82´s are different...
  12. I Agree with Jack in Norfolk; it is just your business, I respect that so much. But really I do Preffer to sell them in Parts, so they can continue "Living" trough other Subies. Maybe you can´t understand the fellin´... It is like when a family got a dying son in a hospital, sometimes they choose to give the heart or somethin´ like that of their son, to another person who needs it; because the son are gonna die soon. By this way, they got the feelin´ like their son is still alive... in someone else´s human being... Also to cooperate to bring life to another dyin´ person. It´s the Same feelin´... you can bring a whole "New" life to a "Dying" Loyale, by givin´ it´s parts to a running ones... but it is just my point of view... that is why I said that "Hurts"... but I respect your option very much, Really. Also, I say: Good Luck! Remember: Take care in all possible ways, it is too dangerous...
  13. I Like both Gens, but I do preffer the Old ones because the "Do It Yourself" Fact: You can repair almost all the things in it by yourself, without going to expensive garages, and is Cheaper to do it, to drive it, to Own it... etc. Also, squared Subies are more Subies for me, than Rounded ones. Not only image thing, also mecanically. But both are good. Remember: It´s Subaru, it´s Good over almost anything else similar on the Road... Specially Off the Road!
  14. It´s the Carb. Simple: Trow the Craptachi and Go Weber!
  15. ... !!! !!! ...Oh my HolyCowNess... !!! !!! ... ...Why do you plan to Destroy Loyales in that way? it hurts... But Well, one question: Did you saw one episode of the "Knight Rider 2000" 80´s Series? in one episode, they use a Ford Crown-Victoria with Hidden solid steel reinforced Iron Bumper, under the Original front bumber, it "Pops-Up" with the Touch of a Button (Hydraulic), just when it´s needed (To Crash Someone else´s Car) it protects the front of the car really good (it´s TV, you know......Anything´s Possible) and then it hides itself. Do you saw it? So, maybe you can try to Hide Something Really Hard as a Steel, in the car, in the place where the Original bumber goes, and then cover it with the original plastic bumber cover, just to get it looks like the original one... But since it is cheating, I must tell you that DO NOT DO THAT!. take care about your Drivin´, Yourself and the other ones! But using a Loyale (Or Any Subie) for demolition Derby is Bad Idea, since they got REALLY Front Engine (it means, it is placed IN FRONT of the Front wheels), and it can be damaged really easy. Anyway... Good Luck!
  16. Mine was acting like that, with more added issues... I just wanna tell you that if you Can: Go Weber!, and forget the Acting CrapTachi Carb. I did that and now my Subie is Running Soo Fine!, also more Powerful. I sugest it instead of trying to fix the Craptachi, because when it starts to acting, no Human power can fix it completely.
  17. I had the same problem long time ago... in a Datsun Pick ´up 1976 L-16. It was the Main energy cable, the One that goes from the Coil to the Rotor... it Was "Internally" broken... so when it gets hot -just a li´l bit is enough- the cable does not have good contact, and does not transmit the power at all. Try with another one... Maybe it works with your car... Also, you may try to change your fuel filter, maybe is clogged; and check the fuel pump as "Jack in Norfolk" said... If you have tried all of this and had no results, maybe is the Main Magnetron, the one that gives the sparks; inside the Rotor. Good Luck!
  18. Yes! You Should Get a EA82 Wagon!, if you need to Move Huge things, People, etc... with confort, easy and very cheap too... It Rules!
  19. Why you call it a TrashWagon? It Looks Too Great to be somethin´ like Trash! I Really Like it.
  20. Well, the White Loyale 1985 EA82 we got it since brand new, in May 1985, so far has been almost 21 years and it got over 225,000 Miles in it. (It came Running Highways and Bad Roads from California) We have Traveled Too many pretty and Bad Roads with It, To all central america countries, even Panama; so Our Family think about it as a "Brother" not only as a Car... The Yellow Loyale is Another Story...
  21. If you Still need the Factory Manuals, you can Reach them Here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40472 They are in the 4th Page.
  22. Hi Guys & Girls, It is me Again! I got Two Loyales, this question is About the EA82, now "Weberized" The country where I live has very BAD roads; so long time Ago, I had the Idea of Lift "Just a Little Bit" my Subie. I have already changed the Rear Shock Absorbers and the Rear Coil Springs using parts from other brand cars, (as you can Read & See Photos ~► Here) Also, I changed the Front coil Springs, but my Suspension Mods lead my Subie to Sit two inches (2") Taller in the Rear ... So my Subie looks "Weird" ... Despite that I don't use my Subie to off road very often, but since I drive it most of the Time in unpavemented roads and mud is Everywhere; a Little Lift in the front could help to Level both ends... my Front bumper is Too Low ... I have Search over the Internet, and Saw the "Scorpion Lift Kits" (http://www.scorpionsubaru.com) I don't need the whole kit, just something to put between the front shock absorbers (Struts) and the Chassis, to just lift the Front the same 2" (two Inches) I gained in the Rear. Maybe I need Just This Things?: (Lift Blocks) But they told me by e-Mail, that they Don't Sell kit Parts, Just the Whole Kit... ...So I searched more and more... and I did Reached This Site: http://www.sjrlift.com Where a I contacted by e-Mail a Kind Guy called Scott, and he told me that if I put this Front Lifting "Things" on my EA82 Subie: I will need to extend the steering shaft at a local shop. Really I don't Want to do major Job in my Subie, just a Li'l Lift, So I ask him if they got somethin' about just 2" and He told me that he could make a especial Pair of 2" front strut Liftin' "Things". I think it is Good Idea and I want to Purchase those "Things" ... so the Questions of this post is: ► Is it Safe to put 2" liftin' "Things" on my EA82 Subie's front Struts? ► Will the Subie Work Properly? ► Will the Subie be more Dangerous to Drive? ► How did you to fix this situation if you ever have been in something like that? Please, Tell me more about it, and if is Good Idea, or if there are better Ideas... Thank you in Advance. Kind Regards. ► Updated to add the Tags for the New USMB Search System and Update the Web Links.
  23. Hi Guys! I think the Dual Carb question in a EA 82 is perfectly Possible, but is a Lot of Work. I know that the Performance will increase a lot over the single Hitachi carb. But first of all, you must know that the Dual Hitachis really means Dual Troubles. I will sugest to Use the Weber 32/36 DEGV instead of a Dual Hitachi craps. I own a EA82 since 1985 (Well my Dad, since I was Kid) and Now it´s "Weberized" and is a Whole World Appart in better Performance than the CrapTachi. But I think just only one Weber is enough. but if you still want to put dual carbs. in a EA82, I must tell ya: "Go Weber" and trow away the Hitachi. Also, you must visit this Site: http://ramengines.com/_wsn/page2.html They made custom manifolds for Subaru Engines. this Pic. is for the EA81 with Dual Intake Ports and Molded Manifold. (Also: Forget the Craptachi too): And this is a Dual Mikuni Carbs Subaru EA81 (Forget Hitachi Too) Maybe they can help you. So, I sugest to Use Dual Webers, it would be Fantastic! but the Performance gain over just one Weber is just -only- a Little Bit. maybe dual carbs means dual troubles; but forget about it. If you want it, you must Try it. Maybe it is a good idea to the EA82. Send us Feedback about it. Bye...
  24. Well... My '85 EA82 Weberized GL Wagon, had an Horrible Loud Noise, when I pull the Clutch at a mid high rev's; when the car is parked. Example: in a Stop, when the car stops totally, and then you want to move it; put the 1st and pull the cluch at near 3000 RPM's and a Loud "...OOOoooooiiiiiiiiii..." came from the inside of the Gear box. I think maybe it's a worn clutch press. The Clutch disc is New, the center ball bearing too... etc. All seems to be Good and new. But the Noise... (Hear "Twilight Zone" musical theme... ) ...The Noise is oo Loud and abnormal. Not metallic, not Cracking, etc... just a Loud scream. First, i was thinkin' maybe the Rubber belts did it. I changed everything. It sound like a Belt, but it´s the Gearbox. Any Idea how to Fix it Up??? Kind Regards.
