Towing 2300 lbs 1200 miles with my GL?
75subie replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you want a decent tower that gets good milage, look for a older s-10 2wd, mine got almost 30mpg, and even towing it would do 26mpg, really was a great little truck.also had an old toyota 2wd that would only do like 22mpg and 18 when towing. i guess this would be safer than towing with a soob, but i still think it could be done.those bmw 2002s are pretty nice, people mod the crap out of them. -
if you are no longer interested, please let me know.the local guy that was interested is becoming serious about buying it, and made me a decent cash offer.let me know wether or not, Jon

i have to say, it`ll be tough to find one cleaner, cheaper than that if you want 4wd! -
Towing 2300 lbs 1200 miles with my GL?

i`ve done it with no problems.towed a toyota corolla 300 miles with an old 82 dl i used to have.that was a flat tow, but i also dolly-towed a 92 chevy s-10 2wd with it for 50 miles.you just have to take it easy, and make sure you have saftey chains, and check the hookups every couple 100 miles.i also towed a 2200lb camper with my 80 brat across town, the only problem was stopping it.keep in mind that you won`t stop on a dime towing something. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=741 -

it probly is something someone put in, thats why there is no dash switch
-
there are no switches around or hanging down?no spare wires?you probly could wire it up to the battery easilly just to see it work.
-
No prob, if your shipper is coming down from NH, and can grab a part for me in NH (a rollbar), i will knock some money off the price.let me know, Jon

is it possable to put a snowplow on a loyale
75subie replied to 95 super subbie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
in 4-lo, i bet you would have plenty of power, plus these cars are not too flimsy.to do a long driveway, it would be a whole lot easier than a snow blower -
Need advice on button on auto shift console
75subie replied to foxgap's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it sounds to be working correctly, you could always duct tape it in, but it is not to much of a hassle to push it when you want to go in reverse. -

moosens is selling his plow, but its for an early 80s ea81, probly could adapt it to a loyale. -
it is wet and dark outside now, but i will try tommorow.if you want to work on it right now, your best bet is to take them off 1 at a time.after you take each one off, start it and let it run for like 30 seconds to make sure it is not necessary.it really is a piece of cake, just gotta jump in there.good luck, Jon
-
i de-emisioned my brat, plugged almost all the vacum lines, and removed the air cleaner and air cleaner housing completely, and it runs better than ever!

i know this is off topic, but carfreak, did you put in that cyclops?how hard was it?did you have to cut the grill?i bought one for the 78, but it looks like the one you have in that gen 2, and it looks like it won`t even fit in a gen 1.how much adaptation was needed? Jon
