  1. well, here are the updated pics of the 78: http://photobucket.com/albums/d118/ruppenduro/ just got done buffing/polishing it today.let me know what you guys think. also, if anybody might be interested in a rust free AZ brat, i am going to need to sell something in the near future.money is getting to tight, and i am getting into too many projects.this is by far the sharpest sube i own, but the 85 is my daily driver. Jon in NY
  2. oh yea, it would be a 1600 gl, the motor is an ea71 1.6. lets see more pics if possible:brow:
  3. congrats on the new car, i should have bought it:banghead: i just had a hard time sending the guy $550 with no proof.anyway, this car should suite you pretty well. as for mods, 1. weber 32/36 carb 2. 2.5 inch exhaust going from the y pipe back to a glass pack (better flow) 3. ea81 2wd electronic disty swap 4. accell coil/plugs/wires 5. look for a set of 14 or 15 in peugeot wheels, they are the only ones with the same lug pattern as a sube. with all these mods, you will have pretty decent power, for rallying, you may want to get some lsd`s.the exhaust will also sound nice and throaty. take care, Jon (fellow gen 1 subathusiast)
  4. c`mon, your lifted unit is real sweet looking, just in an offroady type way.i want both, one for show, one for off road:brow:
  5. are you still looking to part out that 83 brat you had? just got your pm about Bobby Decola, sounds like he has a cool collection.is he selling?
  6. pretty cool site, i remember a few of them:rolleyes:
  7. i liked your brat so much, its now my desktop backround:lol:
  8. it looks GREAT can`t wait to start on mine next summer.looks like you guys really know what your doing. next year, i`m going to mold a fiberglass tonneau cover for the 78 with wood, foam, and fiberglass sheets. once again it looks Beautiful!!
  9. try jacking the back of the car up, then press the button.jacking it up will relieve any pressure thats on the wheels.
  10. i wonder is anybody would notice if you just pumped up the tires, hooked it up, and left? but seriously, the car looks pretty abandoned.the only problem would be the title.
  11. i want i want:slobber: was there any near by houses or businesses that might have owned it?i am really interested.
  12. he doesn`t build pre 80 lifts or ea71:banghead: its a bummer, i asked him one time, but he would need a ginny pig unit to test it on, and i`m too far away.
  13. NICE you are 1 lucky Texan nice wheels too. besides the body differences, any power increase from older models?
  14. oh, just saw your reply.yea, lights would be awesome.especially if they were recessed a little.here is a pic i found with some: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/brats/bratcolors/79-white-cust.jpg as for mounting, i left a little of the lip on the bottom, it has the 2 guides on the up section, and on the top i figured out a way to use the rain channels.i will post pics, but i think it will be pretty sturdy.now i wish i had a tonneau cover too:brow: Jon
  15. my 75 2wd was the fastest sube i ever had.5sp ea71, let me tell you, i beat the snot out of that car.2nd gear burnouts, racing:D had it up to 105 once, and a 70s beetle still passed me:lol: oh yea, it was scary
  16. it can be done, mudrat79 makes gen 1 lift kits here are some old pics of a lifted gen 1
  17. RB is wicked i will keep an eye open for a motor on ebay and such, you should check your local junk yards.
  18. drill out your bolting plates.it can be done with a hand drill and some precise measuring.a 5 lug swap might be easier for you.
  19. he`s down to $500 now i`m thinking that car must be a beast, or maybe there is just no interest in it???
