  1. Mine weren't Thule specific, but i believe it's a ridgitity issue. The racks aren't necessarily designed for a specific application but to encompass a variety of situations.Where are you planning on tie downs?
  2. were all the jobs done in response to the engine running crudy or did it appear after doing normal maintenance stuff?
  3. Big-have you checked to make sure that none of the rubber hosing you bypassed the metal tubing with has made contact with a hot surface and melted,I would think that they used metal for a reason namely hot surface temps, might be something to look at.
  4. It will eventually cause you more heartache if you don't fix it or have it fixed. Not to hard to do yourself.
  5. Welcome aboard. If you're needing an engine for your van PM me and I'll hook you up with my bro in law in Missoula,Mt (a 73van with the porsche engine with bad transaxle,it's blue and white if that matters),the engine has maybe 5000 miles on it but hasn't been run in over 10 years. I doubt he'll part it out,if we can even talk him into parting with it at all but who knows,it's been 10 years +. Curious minds want to know. John
  6. First of all get a second opinion away from a tranny shop.My understanding is that if you've got bind issues putting the fuse in should eliminate the bind issue,if the symptoms don't go away there is probably something else wrong. Can you describe the issue a little better and also state mileage and tranny style(A/T or M/T). Tranny shops are notorious for wrong diagnosis and will attribute any kind of issue to a bad tranny just to get your money.Let us know more. P.S.-I believe tranny bind is more of a feeling thru the steering wheel then a sound
  7. I'm going with Nipper on this, why destruct a fully functional car when you could part with it modestly and use that money on a Honda or something more efficient.
  8. I had similar problems like Four Fleet on my 79 Ford. On mine we first replaced the radiator cap and that helped dramatically for a while but eventually it was determined that the radiator was pretty much plugged with manufacturing debris and scum despite very regular changes(once a year) due to severe towing and field work.
  9. My jeep has this same "current mpg gauge",I've learned to use it as a gauge of when I need to lay off the pedal,it also has an average mpg function that is drastically different from any of the "current" mpg, albeit the dang thing is fairly accurate,at figuring the averages, pretty much any given time my average mpg's match both the car's computer and my math, maybe a 1/2 mpg difference.I'm starting to cringe everytime I punch that 5.2L to make it to the next stop light faster then every one else.
  10. They are a very popular and practical car up here in NW Montana, sorry to say we only have one sub dealer and it's not very good in my opinion
  11. Along with checking similar threads, check what warranty you got with the tires and what caused the bulge!
  12. Gary has some great suggestions. Your timing belt or any other belts should have nothing to do with your symptoms.I think your byline says it all ***k fuel injection in diagnosing your symptoms, have you cleaned your injectors at all, even with the store bought shelf crap? Does Seafoam work on these symptoms?
  13. For you Montana or Wyoming or N.Dakota members-if you're interested (it's not for sale)there is one of these cars sitting in the Subaru dealership in Billings Montana (Rimrock Subaru),we hauled it from N.E. Montana as a trade in,hauled it on a snowmobile trailer and the dealership restored it.
  14. Sounds like either the car that supposedly hit yours has never been back in the neighborhood or you aren't the confrontational type, there should have been some kind of evidence left behind on one of the cars to back up your neighbors claim.Did you approach the neighbor or contact the police? Why should you pay for this if you have evidence?
  15. more particulars would be nice such as auto/manual,engine cc,and perhaps your driving style, how about maintenance?something goes clunk normally one doesn't speed up without screwing something up worse
  16. Can't say that i'm the most highly regarded Subaru guy,but the 0 compression on 1 and 3(same side) seems odd if you've got spark and gas at those cylinders.
  17. Man cancel the wedding. No really, get another hydro carbon test, you need some facts.Has the car been run since they supposedly unclogged the radiator and what happened if so? I agree that you need not go back to that outfit
  18. Looked at those tires at Costco and would've bought but the local house didn't have my size and since I needed to go on a road trip that weekend had to go elsewhere, looked like nice tires though and I like the service you get with them one price for everything, very comparable to my Toyos at Les Schwab.Nipper-that is certainly a drawback-membership-we shop there enough to justify it but most people don't save any money over a year at 45.00-90.00. John
  19. I haven't searched anything yet as my Subaru isn't due yet but we put a set of Toyo open countries on the Jeep last fall and I'm impressed,if they make something in a 14 inch i will seriously consider it.It was only 500.00 for four tires and that included mounting, balancing, and a bunch of road hazard and extras(free rotation).Got them through Les Schwab if they are in your area.
  20. I agree with everyone here regarding Midas unless you know someone who works there and is certified on A/C unless you can get them to quote you to evacuate the syatem and then recharge for a set price, not likely, and if they do then they are really dumb since you probably won't be contributing much in evacuation, sad but true.
  21. Then again,maybe a Baja won't pull a trailer or a 5# bag of **** in a 10 lb bag,just having fun:grin: whatever works for you
  22. I humbly disagree and would rather pull the weight than carry it,just my opinion that has always worked for me. John
  23. Home made or custom maybe, wouldn't be hard but wouldn't want to over load it,trailer might be better
  24. To be honest the only bad units I've found is the cheap junk sold at the box auto stores or the cheap sound shops, there is a price point for every sucker,I've actually had better luck with some stuff out of the pawn shop and junk yard, like has been said think about what you want see if it will fit or adapt then choose, good luck-I prefer JVC,Pioneer or Clarion but have no problems with Sony or Alpine, just get the correct adapters and such.
  25. 93 Leg Wagon 5 sp 2.2L,consistent 28 mpg on hwy,varies between 19 and 22 in town.
