  1. I'll make sure I have it ready to go just for you. Oh hay, lime rock this Saturday and some vintage Toyota show in bridgeport on Sunday.
  2. Oh god! The speed is so much better now! It's amazing. This was the key component to making this thing daily livable. I had a tread around here some where with some pics on it. But here's another for good measure.
  3. I still got some work to get the shift lever to the correct hight but it works enough to drive it. Here it is in place. Passing lane oh how I missed thee.
  4. New shifter support rod. Made out of a WRX rod and a 90,s Legacy pitch stop mount. Shifter support in place. That crazy thing is my shifter rod. It was a tight fit. All the shifter stuff in place.
  5. Mounts and cross-member all bolted up. This is the bracket I made up for the shifter support mount. With the new style shifter mount bolted on. The assembly bolted in place to the floor of the shifter tunnel.
  6. So here is the modified mount braket. With the mount attached. I had to cut down and rethread the studs to a reasonable size. The stock cross-member compared to the modified one.
  7. Idk man. The stage one cars have a different front end set up than the stage two cars. They don't seem as ready to accept the 5 speeds as I had hoped.
  8. But then I discovered that nothing lines up any where close to the 4 speed mount. The crossmember hits the back of the tranny and the tranny mounting braket. So I had to cut out the cross member to clear the tranny and modify the tranny mount braket to clear the crossmember. Then I realized the transverse bar was gonna hit the lowest bolt on the tranny and I can't cut up the transverse bar. So I had to move the motor forward a 1/2 inch. Here is where I drilled the motor mount braket. After adjusting the pitch stop there was just enough room for everything to clear.
  9. So this was the easy part. Changed the bell housing and got the tranny in. Now when I had the trannys on the ground next to each other it looked like the 5 speed had the tranny mount in just about the same spot as the 4 speed. The biggest deference was the mounts themselves. As you can see the studs are way longer, and the rest of the dimensions are slightly larger also as well as the space between the studs. So first I opened up the holes on the crossmemeber.
  10. Well I was trying to wait to put this in untill I had my other motor ready to go in also.........but the motor may take awile still and I really want some better gearing to drive across the state next weekend so, here is some more info on the prodject.
  11. I've been itching to do it to another car. I suppose I could do it to the Brat with the side and rear skirts. It would certainly be different.
  12. It actually fit perfect. Unfortunately that is the only pic I seem to have of it. That was back in like 97 before everyone had a camera on them all the time. Lol.
  13. Idk. It's not a factory kit, but it was apparently an aftermarket option thru a dealership. It's lines up pretty good on my Brat but it could be for a Loyale. I don't have a loyale to try it on.
  14. Just dug up this pic that seems to be the only one I have of my old 81 wagon. With XT bumper. And has anyone ever seen this body kit? It's seems to work on a gen 2. Side skirt. Front skirt. Rear skirt.
  15. A steering wheel with more offset should work really well. Granted I can recline the seat back on my 74 but the offset wheel makes it much easier to get my legs under and around everything and its still about the same diameter as stock. Also 6'1"
  16. I am smiling. Altho I made it all the way there and all the way back to the intersection by the garage and the Brat dies at the stop sign. I had to roll it down the hill to the shop. Carb issues, so I slapped that other carb on and found the accelerator pump not working, took the top off to clean it out and free up the pump, put it back together to find it won't idle now. So I'm just gonna take it off and clean it all out. :/ Good idea on the tranny and mount issue thoe. Thanks Paul!
  17. I feel I gotta warn ya. If you don't have a receipt for that filter bolt with purchase of that turbo, it's gonna be hard to get anything out of them for the turbo.
  18. So you bought an aftermarket warranty from the dealership when you bought the car? Did you purchase and change the turbo oil supply filter screen bolt when you got the turbo?
  19. I assume given the year and milage of the car it was not considered still under warranty to have the turbo replaced by Subaru when it went bad the first time? Was the new turbo a factory Subaru replacement?
  20. Car is looking Absolutly amazing BTW, keep picken away at it.
  21. Yeah I don't think that guy is to interested in joining any forums. I think he just recently realized what he had sitting in his back field all these years. :/
  22. Yeah just paint. Well see how well it holds up. I was gonna get it blasted but all my connections were having issues with there blasters and I got sick of waiting so that's as pretty as it's gonna get.
  23. All prettied up and ready to go in. Matching bell housing.
