  1. Lol. Definitely. It's only like an hour from Dannys place. God it felt like I was just down there.
  2. Oooooohhhhhh!!!!!! A 76 the one I want!!!! What freaking continent is that one on?
  3. I agree with the minamal approch. I only had two extra lights on the front of my wagon, well protected by the bumper. I have a tenancy to try and fit in places I dont belong and didn't want to risk loosing any lights off the roof and I'm sure I would have destroyed them when I had a roll over. It was bad enough I couldn't keep the front side markers from getting broken off all the time lol. Lots of lights look awsome on a show rig and are more nessesary on a desert racer but for most of our trail beaters it's just not needed.
  4. That is a definite score! This should be interesting.
  5. Damn! Any chance you have any ea71 top mount 5speeds?
  6. Well I had a whole spare car. It was an 81 wagon so I had alittle more room to play with in the engine compartment. I just hung another Subaru alternator off the side of the original alternator using some of the factory brackets, then used another factory fuse box, stuck the second battery in the back and installed another factory volt meter I place of the clock in the instrument cluster. It worked perfectly.
  7. I ran a completely separate electrical system on my 81 wagon years ago. Two alternators, two batteries, two fuse boxes individual if each other. I ran the auxiliary lights and radio off the secondary system that way if I ran them to long and killed the battery I could alway still start the car. It worked out very well and was cheap to do since I had alot of extra parts kicking around.
  8. Any chance that's a 5 speed manual?
  9. The wing is pretty cool on it . But i dont think its the factory option one.
  10. Make that rwd and your on my line.
  11. Ah yes. I knew there was something complicated about it. Although if you sold that 4speed loyal later on down the road, it would definitely confuse somebody. Lol.
  12. Hmm. My 74 did the same thing yesterday. It was only the right side of the windshield and pass glass. It did seem like it could have been related to the side vent. I've had a few times where I've gotten smoke from the heater core for no apparent reason also. Havnt found any signs of leakage to explain it. I suppose it could be related to outside conditions. Either way......keep on burning.
  13. Sounds like a challenge to me! Seems like we might have enough vintage steel running around this area to have meet come spring time
  14. Daily living with the DL. Tucked away for the night. Very snug! Been using it as my daily for the past couple months. Really love driving her but winter is right around the corner! Gotta find something else fast.
  15. I've searched thru all my fsm,s and service bulletin books, nothing about it that I can find. :/
  16. Ok, the brown one is badass! And the blue one is adorable! What happend to the 4wd?
  17. Good ole EA71 is only bullet proof to a point. Actually wish I had a chance to take a closer look at that block, I don't think the rod ever let go. I think the crack in the block was from the peices of shattered piston getting whacked around. Now the question is......did the valve keeper fall out and let the piston go? Or was it revving so high the valve floated into the piston? Damn I wish we knew how high that thing was spinning!
  18. Considering the time period the review seemed relatively fair. I'm kinda suprized they didn't try to run the Subaru over with the jeep. Lol.
  19. Thanks. To answer the questions: I'm sure the welding on the struts isn't great for them but they've been working great the whole time they were on the wagon and there not leaking by yet, not externally anyway. Lol. Figure when they do get really bad we will come up with a more permanent serviceable solution. As for the rear axle position, the suspension is not settled in the picture I had just set it down from being in the air. So it will sit a bit more level than that. You can check back on the monsterwagon thread to see how this set up works off-road. Nothing really different in the rear suspension. It's the frontend that's gonna be getting a makeover.
  20. Favorite weapon: saws all. Finally got around to cutting this side out since I finally got a set of 35s for it. Pretending it's at new ride hight. Got a killer deal on these off good old craigslist. Good motivation to get my rump roast in gear and start working on the frontend.
  21. Sweet! But need bigger pics man!
  22. Well yeah. Figure an engine and tranny swap in that will take only a few hours. Is that new motor a long block or short? Aside from the body stuff, what other mechanical stuff would you like to compleat?
  23. Damn! Where are you gonna find someone in ct to help you do an engine swap? Hmmm? If only you knew someone......
