What kind of clip holds on the waste gate linkage?
Gl-boost replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Im sorry if I was confuseing. When I got the car I noticed the waste gate was wired open with a piece of machanics wire. Why I don't know but the previous owner had it this way. The linkage was there so I just hooked the waste gate actuator linkage back up to the waste gate arm. I see that there is a groove in he waste gate linkage to probly put a clip of some type to hold it on and not have it pop off. I ned this clip to hold on the linkage because it is not there. So what kind of clip is it. If so where can I get it, will napa or advanced have it. Is there a size for it. If no one knows then I guess I will have to drill a hole and use a cotter pin. -

rubber rocker pannel trim on the GL10?
Gl-boost replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think all subaru Gl-10's are turbo because my friend had a 91 Gl and it was NA. As for the rubber side trim I also think it was a turbo only thing and came on all turbo wagons, and sedans. Not sure about the turbo coupes. -
How rare are the Gl-10 sedan?
Gl-boost replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you all have full time 4WD then that means that its always in four wheel drive right. so then what does my car have. Its FWD to button 4WD. Frank B I have al the same options as your 89 on my 87 Gl-10. -

How is the exhaust routed on a 4wd?

No problem, just ask what kind of pipe you are buying if they make the exhaust. -

sorry to say I do live quite far from you, about an hour and a half I live down state. I belive you had another post and like stated before that 175 isnt bad. I would pay that if I had it and you said the guy was the best around. Mine is not perfect and not that great. I just needed a pipe there to get it on the road, yes its quiet but I belive a better job could have been done, but I didn't pay so im not complaineing. I would also check around at midas as they can be cheaper. Plus they have pipe benders and more equipment to perfect the job. Hope this helps -

It was from stainless steel I think, I mean its not perfect but it does the job. I really didn't think about it holding up to NY standuards because it cost me nothing. I did all the work at my fathers garage and it was free of corse. It is not rusted though it was new pipe. -

Saab 9000 intercooler to big.
Gl-boost replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ell ok then, I only said the Supra Intercooler because I have two MKIII turbos in my yard that are mine. I hoped to fix them but have no time. I also have the Saab car also and once agin free parts. So I will look out for a small one. -
Are the sedans rarer than the wagons. I see more wagons than sedans on here or anware at that. Also I always here about full time 4WD, I think I have selct trac on my 87 sedan because mine is FWD then button to 4WD. Just some clarifacation would be nice.

I think they were just there for show, and to designate the na from the turbos. My 87 sedan also has the fin o the trunk so thas anoher sighn, also the dead giveaway of the turbo decal on both back doors. They do not stop rust, on mt 87 atleast there is some behind there. Also one is missing a door part and the other is half riped o from the rocker. :-\ -

Well I made the pipe today and it took all of about an hour. By the way uncoolperson that link just shows a rolled soob, that can't be what you wanted to show me. -
Well I had the waste gate wired up on my 87 turbo. I had hooked it back up like it should be and it smoked bad. so I wired it back up and it was ok aging. So I told my dad about it and he said try it aging and drive it this time. When I did it didn't smoke, not at all and the car is faster and better. I don't have the clip for the linkage so it wont pop off so what kind is it. The only reason why I could think it did'nt smoke is because I had change the oil. The car was like this way when I got it so I don't know why it was like this.

I just made the pipe from the cat to the muffler on my 87 turbo and I did this at my dads garage for nothing. Its good to have a family busness.

Well thank you guys alot, it doesent look that hard to fabricate but I wanted to just double check everything. The muffler is there and just all that pipe is missing. -
On my 87 turbo 4wd the exhaust pipe is gone from after the cat to the inlet of the muffler, does it go diagnoly across the under neat of the car and then over the left rear axcel. I think it does but i want to make sure. I am going to get the pipe and elbows but wanted to know if makeing this pipe is difficult.

wher and how to replace the input shaft.
Gl-boost replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
work for what. I said input shaft because thats what I was told, so hen where is the gear selector. -
well this in reference to my moms 2002 Baja, the car has a persitant clack, clack, clack, clack. I mean its not horribly loud but I hear it when cold and hot. at low rpm and when acelerating it gets faster but tend to tone out at higher rpm. She has taken it to a private garage and they said is normal for subarus to do and sound like that:confused: . I am always working on cars at my fathers garage and have been around subarus to but not in one that new untill my mom got her Baja and never herd this. Should it be something to worry about I told her to take it back to the dealer and have them look at since its under warrenty. Sorry for the long post.
