  1. Hummm could I have the same problem ? my wagon dosn't seem to EVER idle below 900 and thats with the hellas on. 1k with them off.
  2. you can't buy direct from the Pirelli site and the nearest distributor that has them is in Europe or japan. As far as distributor's listed on their site go. I don't have any contact with nasioc (I don't even know what that is but I'm about to google it) and I have no idea who my local rally club is. I just figured seeing as its not ON road then it must be OFF road seeing as its the offloading section not the 4wheeling section I figured some one else who has rally knowledge might check in here.
  3. I've been trying to track down a place that will sell me a set of Pirelli Competizioni Rally S1 tires (the crazy snow ones) or perhaps a set of Rally K4's (the gravel ones) I'm really not looking to do any "4x4" as far as crawling threw mud or anything of that nature. Not that that isn't fun I've just done it both in my wagon and in trucks and well its just not my cup of tea. My mindset is if its done at less then 20 mph and your not cornering well its just not my cup of tea. I've never really spent big money on tires before but I'm kind of turning over a new leaf. Partially because I just sold my 240sx which I mainly used for drifting, so I won't be needed a new set for the rears every 2 months. as for the snow tires I would ONLY be using them when I'm going to be driving in snow, its frigging Washington I'm not going to be like one of the old ladies who puts her studded snow tires on the day she is legally allowed to just so she can drive around down town Olympia all winter and make annoying noises. I'd put em on when its time for snow and then take them off when the day is done. I'm really interested in spending the extra money to get a set of rally spec tires A as kind of a "quality" insurance and B it would also be a tad on the bad rump roast side of things. I'm not trying to insult any of you 4x4 guys the stuff you do is crazy and really awesome. I'd love to hit some trails (that I wouldn't need to lift my roo for) just don't expect me to be going 20 mph cause the road is dirt and has some medium sized rocks in it.
  4. Trust me thats NOT a good thing for long trips cause sometimes after 2 hours you'd rather listen to the droning sound of exhaust then the 2 cd's you have because you forgot to bring your collection along. Olympia, WA to Pullman, WA, 5 hour drive 1 cd and Open downpipe in my 240. if there had been a tree I probably would of driven myself into it
  5. I'm 99.99% sure its fine to. Exhaust is after the motor now it might not sound the best or pass emissions but I don't think its possible to hurt the motor unless you've got some crazy EGR setup.
  6. so you mean something like this ? 3" DP 2.5" DP back it really adds a lot to the low end I don't know if it takes much away but over 85 seems like its pushing the motor hard so I usually top out at about 75-80
  7. is there anything that I should also do to prep for winter driving besides; Snow shovel, Snow tires, chains, New starter, New battery, new wipers and new Halfshafts ? I've also just changed the timing belts and water pump. I plan on going snowboarding almost every weekend this winter and its gonna be a real bummer if I can't get my wagon to start after a cold day in the snow.
  8. Capital forest we went in on the defli side of things then came out rock candy.
  9. would I need a WRX flywheel to go with that ? or would it work with my EA82 one?
  10. Here are the pictures I promised Made it to to top of the hill and quite proud of it! The gang Mike was standing on the rear bumper holding on to one of the racks he was all good until he tried to jump off at 20mph Just like in the nascar This is where I lost the clutch.
  11. yep car runs just can't get it to move (clutch disk is completley gone)
  12. thanks guys thats exactly what I needed! since I'm turbo I have MPFI whats the best way to remove the fule lines and depressurise them ?
  13. thanks for the tips on the water pump gasket. A friend of a friend works at a subaru dealership so I can get him to hook me up on one. as far as engine removal goes. do I pull the radiator ? I have to drain it anyways for the water pump and I'd like to giveit a nice flush from what I can tell is the only things holding the motor in the car besides wires and lines (like nuts and bolts wise) is the transmission and the exhaust. is that right or am I missing some secret subaru guru only bolts? I heard something about some kind of spring or something that makes seperating the trasmission from the engine a reall PITA is that true on my 87 GL-10 Turbo 4WD? or is it really just as easy as 4 bolts and some elbow grease ?
  14. GCK Right halfshaft (Left will have to be out of next paycheck) Timing belt kit (one of the belts is suposo be longer right ?) Water pump 2 ton hoist! I have to go pickup the clutch so I don't have it YET. Now i just need to pull the egnine and figure out how the hell to put this stuff in. I've never done any subaru work before, so if anyone in olympia wants to help out I would be more then gratefull, or just pictures or how to's on any of the stuff (I think I can manage the water pump on my own) timing belts, clutch, and halfshafts are going to be a first for me.
  15. Sweet jesus! I'm likin the rack did you make it your self or buy it ?
  16. I'm all over that like a hobo on a ham sandwich with a $20 taped to it.
  17. I think I'm just gonna go with the nicer clutch for the GL on account of $$ issues I just bought an engine hoist (i've needed one for a while and now I've got one.
  18. Sweet I'm now +1 timing belt kit and +1 CV joint and this paycheck (just got paid today) is getting smaller and smaller. Can anyone find me and oil pump for cheaper ? $200 is the autozone price
  19. I might be able to go. I'd really like to. I don't know how well I'd do though no lift and some decent A/T tires.
  20. ack sorry those prices are for the timing belt "kit" "KIT INCLUDES NEW BELT AND ALL NEW TENSIONERS AND/OR IDLERS FOR THE APPLICATION" do I need all that stuff or JUST the belts ? I've only worked with timing chains before so this is kinda new to me I've always just bought the whole kit.
  21. when I first got my wagon I was bummed out to find that my trip computer was missing the controlls AND seemd to be set on the wrong time! not knowing the goofy ness with subarus and CD players I went to put one in (replacing the one thats in there now sadly I found out that the one I was going to install dosn't fit) I have like a 1/2" extention for the apline unit that is in there now but I'd like to get something thats compatible with my ipod. ON the good side of things I found out that My trip computer controlls where wraped in duct tape and cramed into some space. has anyone rerouted there controlls to a better place ? any ideas ?
  22. I orderd a GCK replacement halfshaft today $109.99 if they are really all that and a bag of potato chips I might get 3 more when the $ is available. I still haven't decided on XT6 clutch or GL-10, anyone want to sway me ?
  23. I'll have to check it out tomorrow (the doom wagon couldn't make it all the way to my house so its chillin at a friends) but hopefully I can avoid lifting with that. how do these prices look for everything I might not have the cash to do it all while its out so if you guys want to help me pick and choose that would be great. Water pump $60 hoses $30 oil pump $200 Oil pan gasket $13 timing belt - Duralast $160 Gatorback $195 I'm also looking at getting GCK axles I'm just getting one to replace my broken one at this moment but I'd like to get all 4 coverd and plus if I save 1 front and one rear I have a spair of something goes wrong. I'm also looking at a GL-10 clutch vs a XT6 clutch, I'll obviously be resurfacing the flywheel while its out.
